For 2016, a total of thirty- three churches reported their United Methodist Women Sunday celebrations, compared to twenty-nine in 2015. The members find a variety of creative ways to celebrate this special day. A number of units have charge of the entire service. Many members are invited to be guest speakers in churches other than their own. Some give brief presentations on the work of United Methodist Women during the morning service. Many participated in a variety of ways, including serving as liturgists, ushers, greeters, and helping with Communion. A number of units presented Special Mission Recognitions to deserving members. Some units served lunch to the congregation following the morning service. Many included inserts in the bulletin regarding information on their circles and activities. Many units provided displays and videos regarding their work. Some presented roses or carnations to all women in attendance. One unit honored a member with over 50 years of service with a Special Mission Recognition pin, a gift, and a brief history of her service. Some collected money and health kits. Some involved the youth and children in their services. However your unit observes the day, I hope you will send in your report so that we might share ideas, and hopefully inspire other units to find ways to celebrate. Thank you for all you do as we continue to serve God through United Methodist Women. ------Compiled by Peggy Wright, 2016 NWTX Conference UMW Historian
