Essay About Me – Scott Miller
Background Information
My name is Scott Miller and I was born in Sarasota, Florida on October 5, 1965. My parents were Corvin and Cherie Miller. I have one younger brother whose name is Todd Miller. We grew up in Sarasota. When I was about 3 years old my family moved into a home that I consider my childhood home. I lived there until I was about 20 years old. My dad owned his own business installing windows, sliding glass doors and mirrors. My mother worked for my dad as his secretary. I attended one elementary school (Kindergarten – 6th grade), one Junior High School (7th grade – 9th grade) and one High School. (I would also include information of places we vacationed as a child.)

Mother’s Family
I was very close to my grandparents on my mother’s side of the family. Sam and Becky Luther, known to me as Poppop and Grandma, were originally from Pennsylvania. I believe both my grandparents where Pennsylvania Dutch which is a part of the Mennonite religion. Sam Luther was a police man and eventually became a detective for the Pennsylvania state police. They moved to Florida when my mother was a senior in high school. The high school my mother attended when she came to Florida was the same high school I attended and we even had the same typing teacher!
Father’s Family
I did not really know my father’s family. My grandfather was alive when I was born, but died by the time I was three years old. My grandmother, on my father’s side of the family, died before I was born. I do know they were from Ohio and were followers of the Amish religion/lifestyle. Hero/Idol
Grandfather (Poppop)
I have a few people that I would consider to be my heroes. One of them is my grandfather. He spent a lot of time with me as a child. I remember him coming over to my home three to four times a week and spending time with me. We would work on word searches, feed the birds outside my house and go swimming. My grandfather showed me an unconditional love. Even when I made decisions that were not good, he somehow managed to let me know that he was displeased with my choices, but still loved me.

Favorite Book
One of my favorite books is actually a series of books, it is called Left Behind. This series consists of 13 books (plus a few prequels and another series for teens as well) that tells the story about what may happen in the future when Jesus Christ comes back and “Raptures” his followers. The book begins with the Rapture and is about the people that were “Left Behind.” (More information about why I like the book and some of the characters and what I like about them.)
Favorite Location
Pisgah View Ranch
As a child, my family vacationed in North Carolina at a place called Pisgah View Ranch. (More information about Pisgah View Ranch and the things I like to do in this area.)
