A VOICE IN THE WAY
I am not going to talk about Carlos Ciriza, the man. Others will do that … I will only say that he is a Sculptor, Architect and Physicist, who is tenacious and dreamy; he is a man with an extraordinary combination of knowledge, art and humanism.
As a citizen of the world, I am only going to try to express what his work makes me feel and think, knowing that Carlos is in each of his sculptures … I know that when admiring his sculptures and speaking about them, I speak about him; when I look at them, I see him.
Carlos Ciriza, the sculptor, offers the world his impressive art that can only be described in the universal language of emotions, for which there are no words.
Contemplating his work, one feels admiration. Sometimes, Carlos creates a tender art like his incredible couples in love, most of the time strong, hard, using in every case the most difficult thing that he found, big pieces of metal, turning them into sculptures defying in many of them the laws of physics and achieving a balance that seems hardly possible.
His sculptures need a space that allows them to live. It is difficult because the magnitude of them do not require a big space, nor a small one, but they need a space according to the artistic expression of every work in particular.
To achieve this, the sculptor becomes an architect, turning sculpture and space into one. Who sees his work placed, without knowing it, feels: This space needs this sculpture over there or; this sculpture and the space are a work of art.
I recommend the traveler if during his journey he finds one of the works by this great sculptor, not only to look at it, but to contemplate it and feel it.
This impressive and amazing balance that he achieves in his big sculptures, show that searching, as he has done it with the metal, mankind can find ways and solutions to balance its big problems... if it is capable of leaving aside its selfishness and materialism.
Till now only the great ones, everyone in his field, leave traces to be read in the future … and those by Carlos will keep on living in his works.... that are many and all of them are exceptional … and I do not try to describe them, because I cannot do it; they are expressions in iron of a soul.
It is necessary to see them … it is necessary to feel them … it is necessary to admire them and to think what Carlos wants to tell us in each of his sculptures …
