STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

Works under the supervision of the Administrator and performs and supervises the activities and personnel engaged in maintaining the Medical Center in a sanitary, attractive, safe and orderly fashion to ensure linens and the environment which contribute to the wellness of the patients and safety of the visitors in accordance with the Mission and Philosophy of the Garrison Memorial Hospital.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  Performs housekeeping & laundry duties on a daily basis;

·  Daily folding & pressing of linens,

·  Orders linens and laundry supplies

·  Assists in the maintenance of the laundry equipment

·  Performs housekeeping duties, strips and waxes floors and performs major house cleaning.

·  Covers shift for staff

·  Assists in building repairs and upkeep

·  Assures development of programs, policies and procedures that respond to the changing times in healthcare:

·  Update Policies/procedures per policy

·  Make innovative changes in department

·  Hire, train, evaluate and discipline departmental staff in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.

·  Conduct at least one departmental meeting and/or in-service per month.

·  Employee appraisals are conducted and reviewed with employees in accordance with hospital policy.

·  Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Graduate

Licensure: N/A

Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in leadership position, preferably in an environmental services area.

Skills:

Interpersonal Skills: Relates well with environmental staff and medical center staff, patients and visitors. Maintains confidentiality.

Physical Effort: Physical Demand is medium.

Hours of Work: Full time, variable schedule.

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Other: Potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical, and infectious substances hazard.
