MATH CURRICULUM QUESTION
I want to thank those of you who responded to the math curriculum question I
pondered the other day. Here are the results of that question.
Everyday math is excellent. We use the program at the K-5 level.
Lastyear we adopted McDougal Littell at the 6-8 level. It provides many
ways to differentiate and is more user friendly for the teachers.
We did at our middle school (6-8th grade). Holt is the publisher.
After using it for a year the staff loves it. They are very technology
friendly and teachers use the on-line material on a regular basis. Also,
they have the regular curriculum divided into 3 categories. Level A =
Advanced, Level B = grade level and Level C = Special Ed/RTI. So a lot of
the modifications or differentiation is started for you.
They have on-line tutorials, assessments, etc. ....Students don't even have
to lug the book home, because the entire thing is accessible on-line. This
has been a big help to parents also.
We really like the series

Love it for k-6 especially
We adopted Everyday Math grades K-6 for this school year. It has
been an adjustment, but positive.
Ourdistrict has just adopted Math Expressions for
ktg.-5th grade. The majority of the teachers really like it. Time will
tell if it helps with ISAT scores. Math Expressions is published by the
Houghton Mifflin company. We adopted Glencoe Math-Math 1 for 6th grade,
Math 2 and pre-Algebra for 7th grade, pre-Algebra and Algebra for 8th grade.
The teachers are not as enthusiastic about Glencoe as the lower grade
teachers are about Math Expressions. Again, time will tell if our Math
scores improve. Hope this helps.
We adopted the University of Chicago's " Everyday Math" and are
very pleased with it.
This is our second year using Everyday Math, K-5, and it's working
well for us. Our math scores are improving, and the teachers are adjusting
nicely. It is a curriculum that requires on-going training during the first
year of implementation.
We are looking right now and the top one is Everyday Math K-6 and
the new holt series 7, 8th, and pre-algebra.
We adopted Envision Math (Pearson) K-6 and College Prep Math
grades 7-12 this last year. Call me we have 2064 kids in our district or
about 150 kids per grade level. We did 2 years of research and 6 months of
piloting prior to the adoption.
