Great feedback received from a venue we use for our Mental Health courses.

As the classes Adult Education and Mind have run this year come to an end. I feel compelled to write to you with some feedback from Hartlepool People.
Over our 33 years of working with the community in Hartlepool, we have gained a lot of experience and knowledge supporting people with various degrees of mental illness. We have seen how the quality of life can be enriched by joining a group or taking part in an activity that allows them freedom, is non-threatening and appreciates the changes in how people feel from day to day.
The courses you have run at Hartlepool People have been just those kinds of activities and we have seen the people on the courses change so dramatically from first entering our building and hardly having the confidence to talk or exchange eye contact to them leaving last week giving us hugs. Laughing and looking forward to the new classes in September.
One of the members has even been working in are café on work experience, he has done this twice and has just loved it. The experience for him to be with people, communicate and work to a time deadline he, has taken to so easily and it has been a joy to see him.
I personally love the relationships I have made with the groups and some of them come in ask me check things from film times at the cinema to a list of chiropodist in Hartlepool. I just love the fact that they feel at ease with me and will pop in.
I have spoken to Connie and offered the groups a “drop-in” day so they can keep the contact going with each other and more importantly their level of confidence up.
I hope that you continue to run the classes, and you also feel this year has proven such a success for people who have multiple challenges and for some living in total isolation. I like to think that between us we have given them some “joy” and that is what life is all about and what our role with the community is.
