The International Centre of Graphic Arts is a museum with an extensive collection of post-war fine art prints and artist-produced printed ephemera; it is also a gallery that organizes numerous exhibitions of contemporary visual and graphic art. In the Centre’s printmaking studios, which serve as a laboratory for exploring and experimenting with different print techniques, new works are created in the techniques of serigraphy, lithography, and intaglio printing. The Centre also organizes the International Biennial of Graphic Art, as well as publishing numerous catalogues, books, and other publications. The Centre is co-funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and the Municipality of Ljubljana. The Centre organizes professional and social events, talks, round tables, themed tours for the public, and guided exhibition tours for groups. It offers numerous visual and graphic art programmes for children and youth, as well as for adults: workshops, printmaking demonstrations, and classes in drawing and printmaking. It also organizes a variety of specialized programmes for school groups and other interested parties.
Aims and Outcomes
- Please describe the benefit that will be derived from the Assistantship for your institution.
- Which concrete outcomes would your institution like to achieve by hosting an Assistant?
Working for the International Centre of Graphic Arts would offer the opportunity to gain a better understanding of modern and contemporary visual and graphic arts, also to get better understanding of the dimension of public institution such a museum and gallery. It will be a possibility to discover Slovene cultural system and to improve social, professional and intercultural competencies. So the Assistant should have an interest and maybe some experiences in working in a contemporary arts environment and / or a museum in
educational context. We would be interesting in hosting someone who is interested in developing international links. Also helping with developing new future projects would be appreciated.
