Teleconference

Attendees:Barb Bachmeier (IU Health-Methodist-Indianapolis), Jill Castor (IU Health-Methodist) , Michelle Corrao (Prevail-Noblesville), Michelle Ditton (FTWSATC), Holly Renz (Madison County SATC), Pam Jahnke (Community Health Network), Cathy Clark (St. Elizabeth-Lafayette), Becky Navarro (Eskenazi), Laura Berry (ICADV), Francine Henley (St. Joseph County), Megan Brown (St. Vincent)

  1. SANE Education - Jane Friona, from SWI AHEC, (Indiana Area Health

Education Center) contacted Barb inquiring about a SANE course for adults and adolescents. The mission of AHEC is to provide education to rural and underserved areas. SANE training is an area that health care providers requested be conducted for rural health care facilities. Information was provided and she will get back with Barb if needing more information or if AHEC is interested in pursuing SANE education.

Many students who pursue SANE training are finding it difficult to complete the clinical portion. Members were asked to brainstorm ways to ensure SANE candidates have an avenue to complete the clinical requirements.

2. Collaboration with ICIAFN and ENA Forensic Committee

All members on teleconferences received the IN ENA June Symposium. Barb and Michelle Resendez are working with IU McKinney School of Law to determine if they can help with a Mock Trial in September. A teleconference is set up on April 21st to discuss the Mock Trial with IU McKinney Law School professors and other attorneys.

  1. Collaboration with ICADV – Laura Berry will reach out to Representative

Kirkhoffer to discuss how state funds can be used to help pay for antivirals. She is interested in meeting with SANEs after current legislative session ends to discuss a Road Ahead. It was discussed that once funding issues could be addressed an ad hoc committee would convene to draft model protocol for prescribing and dispensing and create a toolkit.

In the interim information regarding the risk of contraction, treatment options, how to develop your own nPEP program, etc. will be discussed in the IN ENA/ICIAFN newsletter. A reference to the IAFN webinar on nPEP: How, Why, When should be reviewed by all. Everything in the webinar is still applicable.

  1. SANE/SART Initiatives – Laura Berry will contact Suzanne O’Malley to

invite to the next teleconference meeting in June to discuss reconvening the task force.

  1. Regionalization of IN ENA Forensic Committee – It was recommended

that POCs need to meet to see how they can help the needs of SANEs in their areas

  1. Legislative Updates – Budget remains intact – Laura Berry will reach out

to ICJI to determine what their direction for funding priorities will be for the state. $ 1 million dollars is designated for sexual assault services and $ 5 million for domestic violence services. Jade Palin is the new victim services director for ICJI. Her email is . She was a former CASA/Youth Service Director.

  1. Receivership - Deborah Daniels is reaching out to folks to discuss their

views on whether to stand up a free-standing INCASA or have sexual assault services under one coalition with Domestic Violence.

  1. Partnering with ICADV – cell phone collection for the month of May.

ICADV is looking for partners to set up phone cell collection boxes. Starts April 28th – May 4th. A press conference at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be held on May 4th.

  1. CAMPUS SAVE initiative –Members recommend this be a conference

topic for ICADV for their annual conference. Purdue University is hosting a summit on June 25th which will include a round table discussion with title IX reps, law enforcement, prosecutors. It will be held at Purdue Campus. Cathy Clark will send out notices to folks who are interested in attending.

IUPUI SAPIR task force is hosting David Lisak, who has published and spoken on the profiling a rapist and predator tactics. This will be June 29th at the IUPUI Student Center.

  1. ICIAFN Update – The executive committee and conference committee

have secured Russell Strand for November 13th for the entire day. The conference will be held at Windham Hotel.

  2. Community Health Network (Pam Jahnke) – New medical director

Dr. Liz Eglen.

  1. Becky Navarro – Legacy House Rock-A-Thon is April 23rd, 2015.

Walk a mile in her shoes is scheduled for April 25th.

  1. Michelle Corrao –SA awareness month activities for Prevail include

Clothesline project in which 75 individuals participated. They are hosting Steward of Children presentation. Michelle spoke at a recent event call Stand Tall Project. Also the MRNINO conference is scheduled for April 24th, 2015. This is the sexual offender conference.

  1. Jill Castor spoke on their recent presentation to Community

Hospital in Anderson. They have been asked to come back. Jill will travel to any location to present. Call Jill if you would like the presentation at your facility.

  1. Francine Henley is retiring and Nancy Adams will be assuming the

coordinator position June 8th, 2015.
