Assessment Configurations
mLevel’s Assessment activity can be configured in several different ways to tailor the end user’s experience to your specific needs. This configuration is made possible by Assessment’s unique settings that can be changed under the Activities/Games tab. Here we will explain what each of these settings is and how they may be utilized to adapt your activity to the experience most suited to your desired gameplay.
Answers
Enable Answer Feedback:Check this box to allow answer feedback to appear after a user selects a given answer. The feedback will show whether the user’s answer was correct or incorrect, as well as identify the correct answer that should have been selected. Answer feedback written in the “feedback” box for manual questions will also be displayed after each question according to the answer chosen (example question feedback shown here).
Enable End of Game Play Feedback: Check this box to allow users to see a comprehensive list of questions they answered incorrectly during the activity, the answer they chose, and the correct answer (example pictured below). This feedback also shows their mastery score (% out of 100). If you would prefer users not be shown their results at the end of gameplay, simply uncheck this box. Players will then simply see a “thanks for playing” screen with none of this information displayed.
Timer
If you would like to limit the amount of time users are given to answer each question, select “Question Count-down Timer,” then use the box below to set how many seconds will be given. This timer will reset after each question.
Questions
Define Number of Questions:Your assessment can either display every question written for that particular activity, or you can define the number of questions out of the total pool that you would like to include in each game play. The “Auto Detect” option will set the activity to automatically include all questions written and assigned to the assessment. The “Manually Define” option allows you to define the exact number of questions that will be asked during each play.
Define Order of Questions: The order in which questions are asked can either be randomized or specified. Randomized order will shuffle the questions into a different order for each gameplay. This is the best option to choose when using a defined number of questions that is smaller than your total question pool for the activity, as it will randomly select from the pool to display a different mix of questions each time the user plays the assessment.
Specified Order allows you to choose in what order your users will see the questions by using the Define Question Ordering box on the right of the screen. Click and drag questions within this box to change their order. If you are using a manually defined number of questions that is smaller than your total pool of questions, those that will be included in the activity will be highlighted in blue, while those that will not be shown will appear below them in grey.
Game Play Limit
You can restrict the number of times a user can play through an assessment activity by checking “Restrict the game play.” You may then specify in the box below how many attempts you would like to give each user (1-999).
