AIMCAL renames its fall technical conference
FORT MILL, SOUTH CAROLINA, USA – AIMCAL, the Association of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators, has renamed its Web Coating and Handling Conference the AIMCAL R2R Conference.
Like its predecessor, the AIMCAL R2R Conference will continue the successful, multi-year partnership with the Society of Plastic Engineers, Bethel, CT, and its FlexPackCon event. The joint meeting will be held Oct. 15-18, at the Naples Grande Beach Resort in Naples, FL.
“R2R, which stands for roll-to-roll, is the terminology supplanting‘converting’ and ‘web coating,’ especially among newcomers to the industry and in developing markets such as printed electronics,” says Craig Sheppard, executive director of AIMCAL.
“The new name reflects the changing nature of our businesses,” adds Danis J. Roy, president of AIMCAL and general manager at Terphane, Inc., Bloomfield, NY, a division of Tredegar Corp. “It also conveys an accurate descriptive of what the event entails to potential participants who aren’t acquainted with AIMCAL and have never attended ourfall technical conference,” he explains.
The technical conference, which dates back decades, features multiple tracks presenting the latest advances in R2R technologies such as Web Coating and Laminating, Vacuum Web Coating, Specialty Web Coating, Web Handling and Flexible Packaging. The schedule also includes sessions about the business side of the R2R marketplace, networking receptions, a Table Top Exhibition, golf scramble and other activities. A full agenda and registration materials will be available in mid-summer 2017 on the AIMCAL website,
