Coordinator ABI Services
Introduction:
arbiasis a progressive organisation that works with individuals with an acquired brain injury and high complex needs specialising in alcohol and other drug brain impairment. arbias operates across both Victoria and NSW and is a leader in service provision to people with an ABI. A key objective of this service is to work with people who are in crisis and at risk of alienating their support networks, becoming isolated from the community or homeless.The foundation of arbias’ work is partnership, building on individuals’ strengths, and supporting people to identify strategies in planning for their future. Through person-centered principles, we value community inclusion, strengthening informal supports, advocacy and negotiating access to services.
The position ofCoordinatorwill oversee the practice standards in place acrossABI Specialist Servicesin NSW to ensure quality service provision at the service level, implementation of high standards of goal setting and outcome measurement and participating at the practice level in the evaluation of these. The Practice Leader will be responsible for providing practical leadership, mentoring and coaching to all arbias NSW/ABI Servicesstaff on person centred planning and person directed services through the provision of practical advice and training. The Coordinator will support staff in NSW under the direction of the State Manager NSW. Use of technology (eg Skype) will assist with facilitating this to ensure budget requirements are met appropriately.
The role will also include a component of training facilitation of the arbias training Modules (1-9) to internal and external stakeholders. This role will also be crucial in implementing the role out of NDIS across ABI Services.
TheCoordinator will also maintain a level of direct clinical work (either Psychology or Case Management dependent upon relevant skill and qualifications).This will include work from icare eg: LifeTime Care and Support (LTCS), TAC and WorkCover.
TheCoordinator is an internally focused role that is aimed at continuous improvement in person centred and person directed practice in all services provided by arbias.
TheCoordinatorposition is accountable to theState Manager NSW.
Responsibilities:
Practice Leadership
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to staff re the principles of person centered planning and person directed practice
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to staff re acquired brain injury and the implementation of appropriate compensatory strategies
  • Implementation of outcome measures at all levels of service practice and overseeing at practice level the evaluation of these outcomes
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching re practice
Training Facilitation
  • Undertake training facilitation for arbias training modules (1-9) to internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Provide information to external stakeholders re arbias services including formal presentations at networks and forums
Clinical Practice
  • Undertake 12 hours per week of fee for service clinical work (either Psychology/Behavioural Support or Case Management dependent upon relevant skill and qualifications) and service need
  • Ensure billing for fee for service is undertaken as per Finance policy and within the required time frames
  • Market for additional fee for service work in conjunction with the State Manager
Professional Development and Support of Staff
  • Provide direct professional development and support to staff
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to direct reports re work practice, problem solving, planning and incidents
  • Provide guidance and role modelling in the implementation of person centred planning principles and person directed practices.
Information and File Management
  • Use of the arbias SharePoint System for the recording and collation of all information
  • Completion of case notes, planning and other documentation regarding clients in a timely manner and recorded as per arbias policies and procedures
  • Ensure all data collection (such as QDC & MDS) is completed as per funding requirements
  • Other
  • Adherence to arbias organisational policies and procedures, including a demonstrated commitment to occupational health and safety practices and guidelines
  • Participation in training and professional development as identified and requested
  • Participation in organisational meetings and strategic planning processes as requested
  • Other duties as required by the Chief Executive Officerand the State Manager NSW

Key Selection Criteria:
  1. Experience in the supervision and mentoring of staff and clinical leadership within teams and an organization
  2. Experience in the provision of services to people with a disability and, in particular, people with an acquired brain injury, complex needs, dual diagnosis and behaviours of concern
  3. Experience in case coordination or case management, particularly with individuals with complex care needs
  4. Expertise in applying a person centred approach and person directed practices to all aspects of work
  5. Well developed written and verbal communication including networking, public speaking and advocacy skills
  6. Sound negotiation, relationship building, problem solving and time management skills
  7. Demonstrated understanding of the importance of the ambassadorial role in a key organisational position
  8. High level of professionalism and integrity, proven ability to represent the organisation in a professional manner at all times and demonstrated initiative, flexibility and positive attitude
  9. The ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team environment
  10. Qualifications inPsychology, Health & Community Services, Disability or equivalent with a willingness to develop further knowledge in the areas of Acquired Brain Injury, Justice, Alcohol & Other Drugs, Mental Health and Dual Diagnosis

Other Requirements of the Position:
  • Commitment to the arbias vision, mission and objectives and alignment with organisational values
  • Well developed computer skills
  • First aid level 2
  • Current Victorian Driver's License
