INFORMATION ABOUT TOURIST VISA
Please note the following and file an application accordingly for tourist visa to visit Nepal.
- Send your valid passport with a duly filled visa application form with affixed photograph , visa fee and postage-paid self-addressed envelope.
- Passport should remain valid at least for six months from the date of entry into Nepal.
- Visa Year: January – December
- A. Visa fees:
- First visit, single entry, 60 days, US $ 30.00
- Second visit within 150 days of the same visa year, single entry, 30 days, US $ 50.00
B. Re-entry fees:
- Single: US $ 25.00
- Double:US $ 40.00
- Multiple:US $ 60.00
- Tourist visa may also be obtained at any of the following entry points:
Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu; Biratnagar (Jogbani), Birgunj (Raxaul), Bhairahawa (Sunauli) and Kakarbhitta (Panitanki) on Nepal-India border and Kodari on Nepal China border.
- Visa fee can be sent by Postal Money Order and Cashier’s Check. Applicants are advised to make money order payable to Royal Nepalese Embassy. PERSONAL CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
- Visitors desirous of staying more than 60 days in Nepal can extend their tourist visa from Department of Immigration by paying Nepalese currency equivalent to US $ 50.00 for 30 days.
- Business visa with multiple entries for one year and five years can be obtained from the Department of Immigration on the recommendation of the Ministry of Industry. The business visa fee will be US $ 100 .00 and $ 250.00 or their equivalent in Nepalese currency, for one and five years, respectively.
- Children aged 10 years or older carrying separate passports or endorsed on their parents will be charged visa fee as above. There will be no charge for children under 10 years. However, visa is required.
- Those applying for tourist visas by posts should pay the exact amount in US dollars.
- Applicants are required to send postage paid self-addressed envelope to return passport/s by certified or express mail.

- Visa once issued cannot be withdrawn, visa fee cannot be refunded, and it must be used within six months from the date of issue.
- Trekking permit is not required for trekking areas, such as Everest, the Annapurna and the Langtang, but for others permits may be obtained from Immigration Department, Kathmandu, Nepal.
- Tourists travelling by car should possess a valid Passage de Carnet.
