World Swimming Championships Regulations 2006

1.Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to prescribe, for the purposes of the World Swimming Championships Act 2004

(a)WSC logos or images; and

(b)WSC references.

2.Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 90 of the World Swimming Championships Act 2004.

3.Definitions

In these Regulations—

"Championships mascot" means the mascot for the Championships known as "Penny the Penguin" the general design of which is set out in Schedule 1;

"the Act" means the World Swimming Championships Act 2004.

4.Championships mascot

(1)For the purposes of the definition of "WSC logo or image" and Part 6 of the Act, the Championships mascot is prescribed to be a WSClogo or image.

(2)The WSC logo or image prescribed under sub-regulation (1) includes any image, characterisation or representation of that logo or image—

(a)however depicted; and

(b)whether with or without the words "Penny" or "Penny the Penguin".

5.Championships brandmarks

For the purposes of the definition of "WSC logo or image" and Part 6 of the Act, each of the brandmarks set out in Schedule 2 is prescribed to be a WSC logo or image.

6.Championships pictograms

For the purposes of the definition of "WSC logo or image" and Part 6 of the Act, each of the pictograms set out in Schedule 3 is prescribed to be a WSC logo or image.

7.Other Championships images

For the purposes of the definition of "WSC logo or image" and Part 6 of the Act, the graphic image set out in Schedule 4 is prescribed to be a WSClogo or image.

8.WSC references

For the purposes of paragraph (e) of the definition of "WSC reference" and Part 6 of the Act, the following words, expressions and figures are prescribed to be WSC references—

(a)"2007 World Swimming Championships Corporation";

(b)"12th FINA World Championships";

(c)"12th FINA World Championships Melbourne 2007";

(d)"Melbourne 2007";

(e)"M2007";

(f)"Penny the Penguin";

(g)"Expect Greatness";

(h)"Stars in Water";

(i)"FINA" in combination with any of the words "World Championships", "World Swimming Championships" and the numbers "2007" or "12th".

9.Expiry

r. 9

These Regulations expire and cease to have effect on 31December 2007.

1.General Information

The World Swimming Championships Regulations 2006, S.R.No.156/2006 were made on 24 October 2006 by the Lieutenant-Governor as the Governor's Deputy with the advice of the Executive Council under section 90 of theWorld Swimming Championships Act 2004, No.95/2004 and came into operation on 24 October 2006.
