Directors Application Packet
2014-2015
Job Description and Duties
A. Directors
1. All directors shall attend and report at all regular Interfraternity Senate meetings unless specifically informed otherwise by the Interfraternity Council President. Directors are ex-officio non-voting members of the Interfraternity Senate, unless he is a voting representative of his chapter. All directors shall report regularly to their respective Executive Council members as well.
2. All directors will be appointed by the Executive Council through an application process and a formal interview process. Directors may be reappointed for additional terms, but the formal procedure must be followed in reappointments, and all applicants considered.
3. All directors shall work together to plan and execute one completely director planned philanthropy project each year.
4. Directors shall be selected no later than the last Interfraternity Senate meeting of the spring semester. Their term shall be one year.
5. Candidates for the Director positions shall:
a) Have at least a 2.5/4.0 cumulative GPR prior to selection, and maintain at least the same throughout their term in office;
b) Have completed at least twelve (12) hours from Texas A&M University and be a full-time student;
c) Have and maintain active status in their fraternity throughout their term in office.
B. The Directors of the Interfraternity Council shall be as follows:
Director of Special Event Programming shall:
1. Assist the Executive Vice President in planning the IFC President’s Retreat;
2. Work in conjunction with the Vice President for Interfraternal Relations to plan the IFC vs. Corps of Cadets Baseball Game, as well as provide information to the IFC Director of Marketing to assist with his marketing efforts;
3. Work in conjunction with the Vice President for Interfraternal Relations to plan the IFC Golf Tournament in the fall semester;
4. Assist the Vice President for Recruitment with all aspects of the Interfraternity Council informal and formal recruitment;
5. Maintain at least one scheduled office hour per week. Scheduled hours shall be approved by the Interfraternity Senate;
6. Maintain and turn over all files pertaining to the office.
Director of Community Relations shall:
1. Be responsible for all matters pertaining to community service and philanthropy;
2. Be responsible for planning the Greek Life Mission trip to take place annually each Spring Break.
3. Coordinate Big Event participation;
4. Compile and distribute to all member fraternities and the Department of Greek life a current calendar of all social and service/philanthropy events for all member fraternities;
5. Assist the Vice President for Public Relations with any duties pertaining to his office;
6. Maintain at least one scheduled office hour per week. Scheduled hours shall be approved by the Interfraternity Senate;
7. Maintain and turn over all files pertaining to the office.
Director of Marketing shall:
1. Share responsibilities pertaining to marketing with the Vice President for Public Relations;
2. Continually search for opportunities to market the Interfraternity Council in the campus and community;
3. Effectively market the IFC vs. Corps of Cadets Baseball Game;
4. Be responsible for creating an advertisement honoring chapters for their exceptional academic achievement;
5. Assist the Vice President for Recruitment with all aspects of the Interfraternity Council informal and formal recruitment;
6. Maintain at least one scheduled office hour per week. Scheduled hours shall be approved by the Interfraternity Senate;
7. Maintain and turn over all files pertaining to the office.
Director of Intramurals shall:
1. Work with Rec Sports to organize two (2) IFC leagues for Intramurals;
2. Keep the Interfraternity Senate informed as to the standings in these leagues at the first Interfraternity Senate meeting of every month;
3. Award two trophies after year-end standings have been compiled to the winning fraternities in each league. These trophies shall remain in the care of the winning fraternity until standings are compiled for the next year;
4. Maintain at least one scheduled office hour every two weeks. Scheduled hours shall be approved by the Interfraternity Senate;
5. Maintain and turn over all files pertaining to the office.
Student Government Association/Relations:
- Update the IFC Senate about events in SGA and on Campus
- Provide IFC Senate members with information about upcoming applications for organizations
- Encourage campus involvement
- Encourage Greek Candidacies for office in Spring Elections
