LESSON 56
GOD’S PROVISION FOR HEALING
Jesus is our Healer
1.goal
Church members will understand that the Lord Jesus is the Healer of their lives and their souls. They will believe in His healing power.
2.introduction
In Isaiah 53:4-5, we find a prophecy about the Messiah or the Lord Jesus. Through His suffering and atoning death, we are healed.
Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. 5But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
Peter says the same thing in 1 Peter 2:24; “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.” The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work (1 John 3:8). We can claim all of God’s promises through faith in Jesus.
2 Corinthians 1:19-20 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas and Timothy, was not "Yes" and "No," but in him it has always been "Yes." 20For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.
3.QUESTION
According to Acts 10:38, for what purposes was Jesus anointed with the Holy Spirit?
a.______
b.______
4.CONTENT
Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” His healing power never changes. He can heal our sicknesses today.
A.Matthew 8:16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
Matthew 12:15 Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all their sick,
Matthew 14:35-36 And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him 36and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.
Jesus healed all of those who came to Him.
B.Matthew 4:23-24 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.
Matthew 9:35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.
Jesus can heal every kind of disease and sickness.
C.Matthew 13:58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.
Mark 6:5-6 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6And he was amazed at their lack of faith. Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village.
The Lord Jesus did not heal many people because of their unbelief.
Matthew 8:2, 8 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." 8The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
The leper and the centurion recognized the Lordship of Jesus. They also had faith in His Word.
