Tomorrow we’re going to read another story about Nick. In this story it finally stops raining. Nick and his friends go outside and find a trail. Nick remembers that this is the trail that leads to the train tracks where his mom and dad used to play when they were kids. Nick and his friends decide to go on an adventure and follow the trail. Have you ever been on an adventure? What do you think Nick and his friends will find at the end of the trail?

Here are some words we will read in tomorrow’s story.
Touch the word, say it, have students repeat. Use the same procedure with remaining words.
 Call on individual children randomly to read the words independently.
Introduce word meanings: /  5-10 minutes
Touch and read the sentence with the students: 1. Is that a faint ray of sun I see in the west?
In this sentence, the word faint means something that is very hard to see.
Now, lets read the second sentence with the word faint.
Touch and read the sentence with the students: 2. He may faint!
In this sentence the word faint means to pass out. Sometimes people are so surprised by something that they see or something that they hear that they may faint.

A shed is a place where people can store things. It looks like a little house but just has one room.
Touch and read the words with the students: 4. “Wait! Wait!” Nick said with a pant.
Listen to me read that sentence again. (read sentence with expression-pant) When you say something with a pant, it means that you are out of breath, like when you try to talk after you have been running too fast. Let’s read that sentence again, together, but this time let’s read it with a pant.
Touch and read the words with the students: 5. I bet it will shock Dad to see the mail sack!
If you were shocked about something you would be really surprised! Let’s see you make a face like you were shocked!
I am going to read some sentences to you. If you think you would be shocked by what happens in the sentence, make a face showing me a shocked expression. If you would not be shocked, don’t make a face.

A dolphin swimming in your swimming pool.
A baby crying.
A fish riding a bicycle.
Correction Procedure: If students make an error, stop them, model the word and have them read it again.
