Position Overview

The Annual Fund Director is responsible for developing innovative strategies for donor engagement, solicitation, and stewardship and for securing philanthropic support from some of the organization’s top donors.This includes creating and facilitating the complete Annual Giving program, consisting of solicitations utilizing direct mail, email, social media, and personal interactions with donors and prospects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and lead the annual fund program, with the primary focus on creating strategies to expand philanthropic support from major donors to support organization’s mission.
  • Manage a portfolio of current and prospective individual donors.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding these very important donors and friends.
  • Provide strategic leadership for campaigns and drive the plan for ensuring these goals are met.
  • Regularly monitor progress toward fundraising goals and other key benchmarks. Provide progress reports as requested and lead coarse correction efforts to ensure fundraising goals are met.
  • Ensure the implementation of an inspiring series of donor engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with all members of the Resource Development team and be a key contributor to creating and sustaining a culture of excellence and high performance.
  • Participate in the development of a comprehensive donor stewardship program that fosters donor retention and long-term engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college of university.
  • Five years of successful experience in major gift fundraising.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to develop effective engagement and solicitation strategies for a diverse group of individual donors.
  • Understanding of best practice in donor stewardship and experience in developing high-impact, cost-effective stewardship approaches.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to understand the needs and interests of donors. Outstanding listening skills and the desire to hear people’s stories.
  • Strong organization and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and complete projects on time.
  • Ability to track progress and report results with accuracy.
