Developed program goals/recruitment plan for the DPD and DI:
Goals for DPD and DI 2016-2017

- Submit PAR by May 1st, 2017
- Reassess student learning outcomes for pre-professional track
- Have advisory board meeting Spring 2017
DPD Long Term Goals
- Consider pros and cons of creating a separate degree plan for Non-RD track. Involve constituent input-advisory board, FND advisor, Director, etc.
- Develop certification for returning post-bacc’s seeking a verification statement
- Develop articulation with Tarrant County Community College DTR program
DI Short Term Goals

DI Longer Term Goals
- Offer more graduate courses-hire another faculty line to help teach graduate courses or develop an alliance with other universities.
- Seek input from constituents, former students and School of HMS on developing a Master’s in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics, separately from the HMS Master’s. At the least, indicate an emphasis in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics on the awarded degree.
- Consider pros and cons of lengthening DI MS program, gather feedback from constituents and other DI MS programs.

DPD
Discussed HMS 404 conflicts with science classes. We will offer MNT 1 on a MWF in the Fall in order to avoid conflicts with HMS 404. We will have to make note of when the sciences are being offered as to not create further conflicts. We are also going to have a discussion with the 404 instructor to determine how the new 2017 competencies will be met. We are considering adding HMS 304 purchasing and maybe removing quantity from the curriculum. We will have to put a lot of thought into this and speak with other constituents (former students, advisory board, ACEND, HADM program).
DI
Discussed extending the DI. Most DI/graduate programs are at least 11/2 semesters in length. The FND program will discuss this with the advisory board in 2017 and get more feedback from current and past students. The internship needs a research component added and this will be a topic for the advisory board meeting.
Darla was approached by Dr. Koerner in Obgyn regarding interns working at the First Care Clinic to counsel underserved populations on gestational diabetes. Darla called the clinic and they indicated that the nursing staff was doing the nutritional counseling and didn’t need nutrition services. Darla contacted a local general surgeon in town and he is going to pursue further avenues.
