Assistant Director of Annual Giving

Location:Brattleboro, VT
General Description: The Assistant Director of Annual Giving will support the growth of annual support to the institution by developing, implementing and maintaining annual giving programs that cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from alumni, friends, faculty, staff, parents and event attendees.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage a student calling program (evening work necessary)
- Recruit, hire, train and oversee student callers
- Maintain and update caller training materials
- Develop and maintain the program for stewardship and recognition of Annual Fund donors
- Produce and oversee leadership donor gift receipts
- Produce and oversee leadership donor thank you letters
- Support alumni communications in the annual Donor Recognition Odyssey donor list production
- Oversee and produce direct pledge reminders
- Develop and manage a young alumni program through direct mail, phonathons, electronic correspondence and suggestions on personal visits
- Work with graduate students on class gift programs
- Develop and manage a new parent program through direct mail, phonathons, electronic correspondence and suggestions on personal visits
- Work with the alumni communications, in conjunction with the IT web team, to maintain and update the Development web pages
- Support the direct mail campaign by working with freelance writers, printers and mailhouses
- Perform data entry and simple reporting from the development database
- Oversee quarterly NCOA updates in the development database
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in fundraising
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proven ability to articulate organizational objectives and development goals
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively
- Independent judgment and initiative
- Knowledge of database systems, Datatel Benefactor preferred, and Microsoft Office software
