"We are Active, Responsible Citizens"

Welcome to the Second Trimester. The students have worked very hard settling into second grade, and have already learned many new things. We are so proud of them! We hope that you are seeing all the wonder in their growth, as we continue on our journey to Jesus.

AR for the first trimester has ended. We will have a week between the trimesters to evaluate our reading, and will send new goals out after Thanksgiving. We will also be setting second trimester goals for ourselves, so please ask your child what their goals are for the next trimester.

Thank you for helping them follow through on their Random Acts of Kindness, as we were able to provide a Thanksgiving meal for those in our community that would otherwise go without. They were so excited to pack the box, and decorate it. The box was overflowing with kindness, and they were so proud. We also met with our 7th grade buddies on Friday, and shared in Thanksgiving with them; we hope you enjoyed reading their buddy books.

The Saints posters are wonderful! The students worked hard doing the research in class using the Internet, books, and their own knowledge. Please stop by the hallway to see the "ABC Journey of Saints."

We have a short week, with only two days of school. We hope that you enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, and together as a family, take time to reflect on the many blessings we have.

Today, we completed our writing about our Thanksgiving Family Traditions. We also put out some really good pointers on how to, "Cook a Turkey." Please stop by the hallway to check them out. We also finished our first novel in second grade, Frog and Toad. We started a new Super Magazine as well. We continue to pray the rosary, and will be sending it home in December to have you pray together as a family during Advent.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, we will join with our first grade family to participate in a hallway retreat. We will make butter, watch a short video on The Mayflower, make suitcases with what we would pack, make a Thanksgiving story bracelet, build a boat to carry the Pilgrims, and see which Thanksgiving foods we eat sink or float. It will be a great morning followed by watching the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and having a Friendship salad. Please have your child bring in 1 piece of fruit to help with the salad. We are looking forward to a great morning!

GRANDMA JACKIE'S CORNER….

Dear Parents,

I am so grateful for so many things in my life. One of the big ones is your children. My life would not be the same if I were not involved with the 2nd grade as Grandma Jackie. I love it and I love them. I am also very grateful for Holy Rosary School where my 3 children learned about God, justice, caring for others, and so many positive things. There was not a moment when I did not give thanks for Catholic education. I am hoping that you are thankful as well for the wonderful teachers, staff, and the experiences your children are receiving. May I wish you many blessings during this Thanksgiving week. I hope that you will find so many things to be thankful for and at the same time try to find a way to share this thankfulness with others. God bless you.
