Statement of Specific Responsibilities
- Successfully undertake delegated curriculum and corporate responsibilities.

- The teacher is responsible for planning, teaching, assessing, and reporting on the achievement of students.

SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
St Joseph’s School is a State Integrated Catholic Primary School for girls and boys from Y0-8 offering an education with a special Catholic Character. It is situated in Papanui in North West Christchurch. The school opened in 1878 and is now the largest Catholic primary school in the diocese. As a parish school it is an integral part of the corporate life of the Papanui Parish of St Joseph and the parish priests takes an active part in school activities.
The present roll is 440 including three Korean international students. 68% of the children are pakeha New Zealanders, 12% Asian, 8% Maori, and 2% Pacific Island with the remainder from many parts of the world.
Currently we have a new block of two new classrooms that give us 19 classrooms in total. We have a staff of 32 that includes, part-time teachers and seven support staff. The school is organised into four planning teams.

●Yr 3 - Yr 4- 4 classes
●Yr 5 - Yr 6- 4 classes
●Yr 7- 2 classes
●Yr 8-2 classes
The school enjoys strong community support, and parental involvement is welcomed in most aspects of the school’s activities many of which involve children and staff.
We are an extremely well-resourced school. Our school buildings and grounds are wonderful assets. In addition, the school has an excellent wireless network, all classrooms have two desktop computers, most rooms have interactive whiteboards and/or data projectors and the school has a pod of 16 laptop computers and 80 iPads for student use.
However, without doubt, our greatest asset is "our people." There is a real sense of community, ownership, commitment and pride in our school from parents, children and staff alike. This is an integral part of the culture of our school and something to be valued highly.
