Our Organisation

The Québec Government Office in London (aka The Delegation), was opened in 1962 and represents the Québec government in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and the Nordic countries.

The Delegation’s Political and Public Affairs section is mandated to develop and foster ties with various political bodies and organisations across the territories it covers, assist and/or coordinate missions for political figures from Québec and Québec institutions, keep abreast of the sociopolitical contexts of the countries it covers, present a fair and balanced overview of Québec. To fulfil its mandate, The Delegation also relies on the development of effective communication strategies to be deployed across a range of platforms such as; newsletter mailings, publications on its Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts, press releases for its website and intranet.

Job description

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Political & Public Affairs and in collaboration with all other departments, the post holder will be responsible for the conception and dissemination of information and communications pertaining to The Delegation’s various programmes and areas of activity. She/He will be responsible for:

  • Content production and management for The Delegation’s website, intranet, newsletter & social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn);
  • Producing a daily review of the British press with specific attention to key topics and areas of interest;
  • Drafting and publishing articles pertaining to bilateral relations and events linked with the territories covered by The Delegation;
  • Producing and disseminating relevant information and communications aimed at a target audience;
  • Up-dating existing promotional documentation sets.

Profile

-A perfect command and knowledge of both French and English, writing skills in particular, is essential;

-The post holder will be educated to degree level or have relevant equivalent experience;

-Demonstrable professional experience and mastery in the use of social media (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn) and Content Management Systems (CMS) are essential, preferably with a minimum of two years;

-A good knowledge and understanding of British and Québec societies and current affairs is desirable;

-The ideal candidate will have the ability to think critically, have attention to detail with keen analytical skills and a global perspective;

-The post holder will be a dedicated and reliable multitasker with excellent organisational skills and able to work as part of a team;

-She/He will possess excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new systems.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK or already in possession of a relevant work visa.
