Role: Director of EFL Summer School
Salary: £36,366 per annum, pro rata where applicable
Accountable to:Head of HE, International and Access.
Accountable for:EFL Summer School Lecturers
Location:Nottingham College -High Pavement Campus
Job purpose:Key responsibility is the implementation, smooth running, administration and ultimately successful delivery of all aspects of the summer English Language academic programme at the college’s city centre campus. The role is a management position therefore the Director is expected to fulfil a demanding workload.
As a member of the management team this role contributes to the strategic direction and development of the College.
Portfolio of responsibilities:
- Implement and manage all day-to-day aspects of the academic programme during the summer school
- Manage the teaching staff to create a positive, enthusiastic team to deliver a high quality programme ensuring high levels of student satisfaction.
- Lead on quality assurance and ensureBritish Council and College Quality Policy and Procedures are effectively implemented during the summer school.
- Observe and appraise all teaching staff providing support and guidance on all aspects of lesson preparation and delivery
- Plan and lead the induction day for EFL Lecturers
- Organise and manage the placement of students, academic time-tabling, course planning, student questionnaire analysis and student certificate delivery
- Ensure adequate levels of high quality resources are available at all times
- Be responsible for collecting student feedback
- Monitor teaching staff levels to ensure that appropriate staffing levels are maintained
- Run weekly planning and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Workshops for all teachers
- Ensure that all lessons start and end on time
- Check class registers on a daily basis for student absenteeism
- Liaise closely with the administrative support in maintaining all academic administration
- Deal with any student or group leader queries on academic matters
- Teach when required to meet operational demands, would could include teaching training
- Hold weekly EFL Teacher meetings
- Assist to set up and close the centre
- Help ensure that the College’s Health and Safety policies are implemented and adhered to at all times
- Ensuring high level of student safety and welfare, including risk assessing classrooms and outside learning environments
- Manage budgets and resources as delegated
