PART 1 - GENERAL

1.02SUMMARY

  1. Perform all Work requiredto provideand install catalystarray, housings,rack assembly, killboxes, asnecessaryforproper installationofphoto-catalyticoxidationaircleaningsystemsas indicatedontheContractDocuments.

1.03REFERENCESTANDARDS

  1. Thelatestpublishededition ofareferenceshallbeapplicabletothisProjectunless identifiedby aspecificeditiondate.
  2. All referenceamendmentsadoptedpriortotheeffectivedate ofthisContractshallbe applicable tothisProject.
  3. Allmaterials,installationandworkmanshipshallcomplywiththeapplicablerequirementsand standardsaddressedwithinthefollowingreferences:
  4. NFPA70- NationalElectricalCode.
  5. ANST/UL-900-TestPerformanceof AirFilterUnits.

1.04QUALITYASSURANCE

  1. Manufacturer:CompanyspecializinginmanufacturingtheproductsspecifiedinthisSectionwith minimumthree(3)yearsdocumented experience,whoissuescompletecatalogdataontotal product.Performancecharacteristicsshallbepublishedinthemanufacturer’sliterature.
  2. WhereinstallationinstructionsarenotincludedintheContractDocuments,themanufacturer’s instructions shallbefollowed.Allequipment affectedbyaltitudeshallberatedtooperateatthe altitudewhereitis installed.
  3. Ingeneral,allcapacitiesofequipment areshownontheDrawings. Reference shallbemadeto theschedulesforsuchinformation.The capacitiesshownareminimum capacities.Variationsin thecharacteristicswillbepermittedonlyonwrittenapprovalof theEngineer.
  4. Thecomplete chargedionizingmediaairfiltrationsystemasassembledshallbelistedbyeither ULorETL.

1.06WARRANTY

  1. Photo-catalyticoxidation aircleaning air systems: The unitshallbe warranted by the manufactureragainstany defectforpartsandlaborfortwo(2)years,exceptforUVcbulbsand ballast.Lampsandballastshallhaveaminimumof 90daywarrantyfrom themanufacturer.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01GENERAL

  1. Allmaterialsshallmeetorexceedallapplicablereferencedstandards,federal,stateandlocal requirements,andconformtocodesandordinancesof authoritieshavingjurisdiction.

2.02MANUFACTURERS

  1. GenesisAirInc.,orapprovedequivalent.

2.03CATALYICAIRCLEANINGSYSTEMFORSMOKEANDODORREMOVAL

  1. PhotocatalyticOxidation(PCO)Unit: PCOunitshallbefactory-fabricatedandtestedtwo- partintegralassembly fortreatmentofairby: (1)UltravioletGermicidalIrradiation(UVGI) usingUVClamps;and(2)Photo-catalytic OxidationusingTiO2media. Assemblyshallbe housedincasing.PCOunitsshallbeprovidedasindicatedonthedrawings.
  2. UnitCasing:Casingshallbeofsingle-wallconstruction,fabricatedof24gauge304stainless steel. Allportionsofthecasingshallbefreefromsharpedgesandburrs. Casingshallbe5-13/16”deep.
  3. UnitCapacity: Unitshallberatedformaximumvelocityacrosstheunitfaceof500feetper minute.
  4. ULCertification: TheentirePCPassemblyshallbeartheULClassificationMarkandbe investigatedinaccordancewithANSI/UL1598,"Luminaires," andANSI/UL1995,"Heatingand CoolingEquipment,"undertheAirDuctMountedAccessoriescategory(ABQK). Complianceis tobeverifiedbytheULOnlineCertificationsDirectory.
  5. PCOMedia: Mediashallconsistofsix-inch(nominal)non-metallicmediawithfaceareato matchcasingopening,pleatedatonepleatperinch(nominal), witha40-200nanometer TiO2 coating. PCOmediashallbeplacedperpendicular totheairstreamintheunitcasing. Media shallhaveaninternalmechanismtoeliminatethesilicaproducedbytheoxidationof ethanol.
  6. UVGILampsBallasts: Lampsandballastsshallbedesigned specificallytoprovidetype-C ultravioletlightwithawavelengthatornear2537Angstroms. Lampsshallbenon-ozone- producing. LampsshallbeTeflon-coatedtoreducebreakage. Sufficientlampsshallbe providedandpositioned centerpointthroughthemediaequidistant fromedgessoasto achieveaminimumcoverageof9.5milliwattspersquareinchofUVClight,upstreamand downstream,acrossallexposedsurfacesofthePCOmedia. LampUVCoutputshallnot dropbelow9.5milliwattspersquareinchovertheirusable12,000hrlife.
  7. Electrical: Unitshallbeconfiguredtooperatewith120V/1φ/60Hzelectricalpower.Unitshall beprovidedwithjunctionboxforpointof connection.
  8. RackingSystem: Therackingsystemshallbeconstructedaseitherafront–loadingorside
  9. Loadingdesign. EithersystemmustshowproofofconformancetoICB2012,CBC2010 andICCAC–156(2010). Thecatalyst andtheracking systemshallbeartheOSP certificationnumber.
  10. Unit shall bemanufactured byGenesisAir,Inc. ModelNo.:2008PCPCompound or Owner approved equal.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01INSTALLATION

  1. Installationshall meetorexceedallapplicable federal,stateandlocalrequirements,referenced standardsandconformtocodesandordinancesof authoritieshavingjurisdiction.
  2. Allinstallationshallbeinaccordancewithmanufacturer’spublishedrecommendations.
  3. ConfirmthefiltersinstallationupstreamofPCOsystemsothereisnopassageofunfilteredto thePCOsystem. AnydeficienciesfoundshallbebroughttotheattentionofMDA fornecessary corrections. Eachoftheexistingairhandlerairfilterinstallations includesfelt,rubberand neoprenegasketstopreventairaroundfilters.
  4. ThePCOsystemsupports andretentionelements shallbecoordinatedtoprovideasubstantial, structurallysound,leak-proofinstallation.
  5. DonotoperatePCOsystemandairhandlingequipmentwithouthavingallfiltersinplaceand properlyoperating.

3.02TESTING

  1. Verifytheproper installationofthe PCOsystem.Thoroughlyinspectforproperfit andsealofall PCOpanels.
  2. A factory-trainedrepresentativeshallsuperviseinstallationof thePCOsystemintheairhandling equipmentandsystemStart-up.
  3. ThePCOsystemforeachairhandlershallbefieldtestedinplacebysubjectingtheinstalled PCOsysteminstallationtoaSmokeinaCanTest,Industry StandardforTestingSmoke DetectorsParticulate0.3–2.5micronppm.Eachsystemshallpassatestforthefollowing:
  4. ConfirmtheAHUsmokedetectortripsettingwithfiltrationonlyandstartingwithten secondburst(s)withusing(1)canofsmoke,(2)cansofsmoke,etc.withcatalyst turnedoff.
  5. Repeatitem1aboveanddemonstratetheAHUsmokedetectorwillnottripwith catalystturnonwiththesamenumberof cansuseda10secondbursttests.
  6. Withthecatalystonbeginemptyingfullcan(s),1,2ormorecans,atthesametime intotheairstreamtoapointwherethesmokedetectorwilltrip. Recordthesmoke releasedurationandthenumberof can(s)atthetrippoint.
  7. Particulatereductionminimumof 95%withaMERV14Filterinplace.
  8. TVOCreductionminimumof 65%
  9. AHUairspeedthroughtheunitPCOsystemshallbeatitsnormaloperatingairflow (max.16,300 CFM).Theunitairflowspeedwillnotexceed400FPM.
  10. Owneracceptancewillbeafterreceiptofwrittentestreportsindicatingsatisfactory performance.

3.03TRAINING

  1. Provideminimum4-hour instructioninsystemtroubleshootingandpreventativemaintenanceto Owner.
  2. Photo-catalyticoxidationaircleaningsystems: Amanufacturer’sauthorizedrepresentativeshall visittheProjectSitebi-annually forthefirstyearofoperationtoinspectsystemandreportthe system’sstatustotheOwner’smaintenancepersonnel.
