General Description

The Marketing & Communications Manager executes marketing and communications plans to ensure the Da Vinci Science Center achieves its attendance, participation, admissions, and sales goals. The manager serves as the primary interface between marketing and the various departments within the organization to develop, execute, and analyze marketing campaigns. The Manager must demonstrate exceptional client service skills to effectively balance the varied goals of each department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to management of the Center’s website, social media platforms, and email marketing initiatives.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the Center’s website and online presence. Develops, writes, edits, curates and publishes content for the website.Sources and selects photo and video assets. Devises strategies to increase online traffic and improve conversion rates. Submits listings to other websites and serves as the primary liaison with onlinemedia influencers. Monitors online review forums and intervenes as required.
  • Manages social media efforts. Develops and executes plans to increase engagement and drive sales across all major social media platforms. Collaborates across departments to develop and post content.
  • Manages email marketing efforts. Plans and executes regularly occurring and ad hoc email campaigns designed to drive visitation, sales, and engagement. Writes and edits compelling email copy that inspires action. Sources and selects photo and video assets. Monitors and analyzes email metrics and uses data to make strategic recommendations.
  • Manages the Center’s promotional calendar, including the scheduling of website updates, email blasts, and social media posts.
  • Develops and executes on-property marketing initiatives designed to promote and sell programs to visitors.
  • Places and fulfills media buys, including digital, radio, TV, print, outdoor and other non-traditional media.
  • Fulfills marketing partnerships with third-party vendors and sponsors.
  • Prepares Marketing and Communications reports, including attendance and participation reports. Measures and reports on the guest experience by monitoring online reviews and implementing intercept surveys.
  • Develops and oversees execution of a market research plan and ensures that the Center is gathering, analyzing, and utilizing marketing data for planning purposes.
  • Sources or provides graphic design support for marketing initiatives, from concept development through final delivery of print and/or digital advertising creative (newsletter, print ads, internet ads, flyers, signage, etc.).
  • Coordinates media relations, including distribution of publicity materials, solicitation of feature stories, contacts with the press, appearances on radio and TV, and media tours.
  • Serves on the Public Programming Committee. Collaborates with committee members to promote programs and ensure that programs offer a compelling reason to visit.
  • Works with fundraising staff to execute marketing and communications strategies in support of fundraising efforts.
  • Works withthe Business Development Team to develop and implement strategies and tactics to maximize revenue for group sales, membership, retail, party & event, and auxiliary services.
  • Coordinates the design and production of Center publications (Annual report, Educator Guide, etc.)
  • Serves as a Visitor Services shift leader on a rotating basis, supervising the Welcome Center (box office), retail store, and guest relations operations while working closely with the Education and Facilities departments to deliver a high-quality guest experience that meets standards set by the leadership team.
  • Responds to donation requests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

education requirements

•Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design,or related field.

requirements

Successful completion of a criminal background check including checks through Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Registry and FBI fingerprinting national background check. Successful completion of the Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting course.
•Proficient with social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and awareness of newest trends and best practices required;
•Expert oral and written communications skills, detail oriented;
•Knowledge of WordPressand MailChimp software a plus;
•Experience with industry standard software including Adobe Creative Suite a plus (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator);
•Excellent communicator and creative thinker with proven organizational, time-management skills;
•Experience as still and video photographer a plus;
•Must have a proven ability to work within a changing environment to meet deadlines, multi-task, collaborate and communicate effectively with a diverse project team.
•Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as necessary.
