Lions Clubs’ Response to Charlotte Fire
In response to the Charlotte Fire the Lions of eastern Idaho are providing disaster relief in the following manner:
· Sight and Hearing Needs. The Lions have been listed by the American Red Cross as the primary provider of sight and hearing related needs resulting from losses incurred by victims of the fire.
o Eyeglasses—All disaster victims as qualified by the Red Cross will be eligible to receive immediate assistance for replacement of eyeglasses lost to the fire. Victims will fill out the supplied form and be referred to one of the following to provide services as required up to a limit of approximately $200:

o Hearing Aids—Those in need of help to replace hearing aids will fill out the supplied form and include the specific details of the needed hearing aid replacement. Lions will work with the Idaho Hearing Aid Bank to provide replacement hearing aids. If none are available, Lions will work though other avenues available, including the Idaho Sight and Hearing Foundation.
· Other disaster relief supplies—the Lions are able to provide assistance with certain other disaster relief supplies as indicated on the accompanying handout. In order to access these services, victims will fill out the supplied form indicating in as much detail as possible the need in each specified area. Lions will review the information supplied and award an as yet undetermined amount to each victim consistent with the resources available. A local Lion will then be assigned to accompany the victims to purchase the needed items. A check from the Lions Club will be provided for this purpose, or Lions may choose to pay with personal funds and be reimbursed.
