Proposed Instrumental music at NMPS in 2017
Mission
Provide extended opportunities for students develop and explore their musical passions through providing progressive instrumental and voice tuition tailored to the individual needs and preferences of participating students.
Vision
Students will add to the skills developed in the classroom music sessions, giving them opportunities to be leaders in that environment. Students will be given opportunities to explore and extend their musical passions through a blend of student and teacher led learning opportunities.
Key Points:
· Participating students will learn in small groups of 2-4 children in 20-30 minute blocks (depending on number and age of students).
· Lessons will be taken by current classroom music teachers Jane & Metta, during school hours or after school in a space TBC.
· Groups will be organized according to instrument choice and year level (where possible students from the same grade will be taken together).
· The music teachers will negotiate lesson times with the relevant classroom teachers to ensure minimization of disruption to learning. Students will not be withdrawn from specialist sessions.
· Lessons will be offered in keyboard/piano, guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, recorder, flute, beginner drums and voice.
· The estimated cost of the lessons will be calculated in line with VMTA rates and be payable in advance to the teachers (not through the school).
· To assess viability of the proposed program, interested parents will fill in an expression of interest form in Term 4, 2016 (to be distributed through the newsletter and forms which can be collected at the office.)
