Discussion/Issues:
-Board of Directors introduced
-Administration report (Ms. McNulty gave review)
- Discussed progress with Claire’s fundraiser
- Gave insight on the MEP test
- Discussed the “No early dismissal” after 2:40 rule; connect ed and flyer were sent home
- Explained the new process with car riders
- Universal breakfast discussed
- Back to school recap
- New digital communication used
- Dogwood is a food pantry; last Friday of every month families can come and pick up food
- Email the social worker Ms. Johnson if interested
- Dogwood was awarded the Ben Carson Reading Library Grant worth $25,000
- Currently trying to decide on a theme (space, beach or under the sea)
-President’s Report
- Gave information regarding Sneak a peek event held on August 22nd, 2013
- Discussed Back 2 School Night
- Read the flyer to get more information regarding the new board and some upcoming events
- Discussed our standing with the PTA (not in good standing)
- We have some outstanding financials that we have to take care of
- We do not have a treasurer
-Vice-President’s Report
- We currently are having a membership drive
- Stressed the importance of joining the PTA
- The classroom with the most memberships will receive a pizza party or ice cream social
-Secretary’s Report
- Discussed previous executive meeting (re-cap on the following items)
- Back to School Teacher’s Luncheon was on August 22nd(same day as the sneak apeek)
- Lunch Event Budget was $250.00
- Back to School Night (September 10th, 2013)
- Discussed raising dues to $10 – At quorumteam agreed to raise the dues to $10
- Need to promote Facebook
- Tentative meetings for the year
- General Meetings - ** First Tuesday of every other month- 6:30-7:30*** First meeting Tuesday 9/17 . Discussed the best start time. Board agreed to start meetings at 6:15pmat 6:30 pm. – Meetings moved to 6:15 pm
- General Meeting dates are November 6th, Jan 7th, March 4th, and May 6th
- June Meeting = TBDdependent upon our last day of school
-BMORE
- Mario explained the mission of the BMORE initiative
- Provide augmented bodies for the school
- Serves as a protective measure
- Gave a re-cap of the PTA Male summit he attended
- Gangs are recruiting at much younger ages
- Dads need to get more involved as a body
- There is an PTA backed All-Pro Dad program that allows the dads to take their kids to M&T stadium for the day
- Asked the dads in attendance to give him “Three from me” – three hours per year to support PTA
- Also discussed the Billion Dollar Man – absentee fathers cost the government 1 billion dollars a year
-Election of Treasurer
- President ask if there are any new nominations
- Stated that there were currently two nominations

- Properly moved the PTA will have a Treasurer and Co-Treasurer

-Approval of Proposed Budget
- Sharese explained each line item
- Moved to raise Lunch support fund to $200.00
- Lunch support fund raised to $200.00 and will be re-visited based on need
- Donuts for Dads will be held on October 25th
- Moved to add May Day fund to Operating Budget
- May Day fund in the amount of $1,200.00 added to the budget
- Moved to approve budget
- Approval of Operating Budget
- Total proposed budget $6,250.00
-Announcements
- Next BOD meeting is Oct. 1 – Sharese said all are invited to attend
- Oct. 4th is BMORE initiative Story Time – Back 2 School Themed reading
- Mario briefly explained the program
- Oct. 20th Susan G Komen Race for the Cure
- Jaz explained the program and how the PTA plan to participate
- Oct 25th Donuts with Dad 8:00 – 8:45
- Its early this year so not in interfere with the instructional programs at the school
- Oct 31st Story Time – Fall Themed reading
- Oct 31st Fall Festival – 5:30 – 8:30
- Lynetris gave a breakdown of what was planned for the evening
- Discussed the admission cost
- Sharese asked for suggestions
- Next General meeting to be held on November 6th

- Krista brought up the new dismissal process
- Concerned with safety
- Lack of parking lot space
- Suggested we swap lots – use bus lot for dismissal of the car riders and vice versa
- Thomas concerned with the ID process
- Suggested we use pin codes
- Lynetris agreed – similar to that at ECCP
- Carlos said this is the most organized that he has seen things
- Proposed doing a staggered dismissal
- Ms. McNulty said she would look into what they can do
- It was suggested that we should send out a survey to see why we have so many car riders
- Sharese said any additional concerns or ideas can be sent to the PTA board via our email address
