Salary/Grade £27,188 - £31,975 (OTL Band 1-5)

This post is responsible to the Finance Manager and is a member of the Corporate Services and Finance Team.

This post includes the delivery of a high quality, tenant and customer focused, comprehensive and value for money service in accordance with the Group’s values, aims, policies and procedures. To maximise our potential to be a high performing customer focused organisation.

To provide leadership to reporting colleagues and the wider organisation and ensure effective delivery of high quality financial management services.

The Management Accountant is responsible for keeping up to date with legislation and best practice as it affects a charitable housing association and for the maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register.

Corporate Responsibilities

1.  Accountable for the interpretation of their business function, business strategy and the implementation of finance and treasury activity that contributes to future growth for Fife Housing.

2.  Measurably contribute to the leadership and growth of the Group through effective development and delivery of the communication and people strategy.

3.  Working with the Finance Manager and the Director of Corporate Services and Finance, identify the strategic business activities and develop a supporting strategy to deliver successful outcomes against the long and short-term objectives of the Association.

4.  Deliver collectively the financial and non-financial objectives for the department.

5.  Ensure that finance and treasury management consequences are considered at the earliest possible point of business decision making.

6.  Evaluate the external environment, business and people related trends to identify and act on opportunities and threats.

Leading the Finance Section

1.  To ensure that the Association is provided with professional, comprehensive and quality expertise and advice in relation to actual income and expenditure against agreed budgets.

2.  Support the Finance Manager in the creation of the Group budgets.

3.  Support the Operational Leadership Team (OLT) and Business Leadership Team (BLT) in the delivery of the Group’s financial plans.

4.  Responsible for updating the Fixed Asset Register.

5.  Ensuring the capital contracts are correctly recorded and processed in the Fixed Asset Register.

6.  Ensure the annual rent increase is implemented.

7.  Ensure the rent debit is raised with associated processes and the rent reconciliation is carried out on a monthly basis.

8.  Support the Finance Manager with the 30 year financial planning process.

9.  Support the Finance Manager in the production and submission of the regulatory returns.

10. Support the Finance Manager in the preparation of the financial statements to ensure that they comply with generally accepted accounting practice e.g. FRS102, SORP2015 and Accounting Order 2015 and other relevant legislation.

11. To support the Finance Manager in providing clear direction and leadership, setting and enabling achievement of objectives which promote service excellence and develop individual and team potential.

12. Deliver accounting projects, and revising policies and procedures for the Group.

13. Support the Finance Manager in the provision of monthly and quarterly management accounting reports to BLT and the Board of Management.
