Class Meeting
This meeting is held at the end of each day, taking 15-20 minutes. Take this opportunity to also update students on due dates, upcoming events, student of the month or week, recognize parents or volunteers, share jokes or any other activity to help build a strong community.
Confidential Slips~
A student can complete a confidential slip throughout the day if they find himself or herself having a problem that they need to inform the teacher about or if they need the teacher’s help. This is if the problem is not too serious. The teacher will collect the slips and review, then hold conferences with the reporting student and possibly with the others involved if needed. On the back of the confidential slip is a discussion area, which can be used to record any notes, ideas or possible solutions. Student signatures are required of any student who was part of the conference. ONLY THE TEACHER READS THESE SLIPS AND HOLDS CONFERENCES WITH ONLY THOSE INVOLVED. (EVERYDAY)
Plan for Success Slip~
A student can complete a plan for success slip throughout the day if they find himself or herself having a problem that they need to inform the teacher about and get help from the class during the meeting. This is if the problem is not too serious. The teacher will collect the slips and review with the class in the meeting, then hold a group discussion to find the best solutions to help those involved. On the back of the plan for success slip is a discussion area, which can be used to record any notes, ideas or possible solutions. Student signatures are required of any student who was part of the problem. THE TEACHER READS THESE SLIPS TO THE WHOLE CLASS IN THE MEETING TO GATHER THE BEST SOLUTIONS FROM PEERS. (EVERYDAY)
Solution Slip~
A student can complete a solution slip throughout the day if they worked through a problem by finding the best solution. They can choose to share their solution on this slip. The teacher will collect the slips and review with the class in the meeting. The solution slips are only shared to help other students develop more ideas for themselves when faced with a problem. THE TEACHER READS THESE SLIPS TO THE WHOLE CLASS IN THE MEETING TO SHARE SOLUTIONS THAT WORKED FOR STUDENTS IN THE CLASS. (EVERYDAY)
Compliment Slip~
A student can complete a compliment slip throughout the day if they would like to recognize another student in the class. The compliment slip can be written for various acts of kindness or for any of the pillars of character. They can only be written for students in the classroom and cannot be made out for oneself. At the end of each week, there will be a drawing from the compliments and whoever is selected can get a reward (prize, sticker, points, etc.). THE TEACHER READS THESE SLIPS TO THE WHOLE CLASS IN THE MEETING TO SHARE COMPLIMENTS FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO PUT FORTH EXTRA EFFORT. (EVERYDAY)
