Lady Panther Basketball Expectations
Timberwood Middle School coaches and athletes take pride in our Basketball program. Athletes are expected to display high standards of excellence in the classroom, during practice and competition. Athletes will demonstrate responsibility, courage and leadership through positive attitudes and actions in both the school and community.
- Athlete Expectations
- All players will follow the TMS Lady Panther Expectations for Athletics.
- Practice
- All absences must be made up.
- Poor attitudes will initially be verbally warned and repeat offenders will be dismissed from practice for the day and a coach will contact a parent.
- All other behavior infractions will be disciplined on an as-needed basis.
- Please call/email the coaches to notify ALL absences.
- Be on time and prepared for workouts.
- Injured athletes are still required to attend all practices and games.
- Games
- Absence from a game is inexcusable and will effect playing time.
- Athletes who forget their uniform will not be allowed to travel and/or play in the game that day and will consequently miss the next game as a result.
- Athletes will be transported to and from the games by bus (with the team).
- AWAY GAMES: Athletes will be allowed to leave after their competition as long as they have turned in a completed travel release form (athletes may only leave with their guardian unless other notification has been made).
- HOME GAMES: There is no travel release required for home games. Athletes may leave after their competition is complete.
- Travel Policy
- Our travel policy has changed. In accordance with Humble ISD rules and regulations, each athlete who leaves a competition must have a signed Student Travel Release form completely filled out PRIOR to leaving campus for the contest.
- Playing time and the Role of Alternates
- All players will have fair and equitable playing time. Both grade levels will play four 8-minute quarters.
- Substitutions will be made based on Humble ISD athletic guidelines for middle school basketball.
- Tournament playing time will be based on the coach’s discretion.
- Alternates:
- Determined by Tuesday of each week.
- Expected to be at all practices and games.
- Will wear game day shirt and jeans to the game.
- Will not sit out more than 2 games in a row.
- Expectations of Parents
- Drop off and pick up your daughters on time.
- 7th grade: doors open at 6:45, please drop off by the track.
- 8th grade: ends at 4:55, please pick up on the bus ramp.
- Respect the decisions made by the coaches.
- Wait in the bleachers for your athlete to be dismissed after the competition is complete.
- Be respectful to the officials and their calls.
- The following chain of command should be adhered to when issues arise:
- Athlete and coach, parent and coach, parent and coordinator, parent, coordinator and grade level principal. Should the problem not be resolved once all efforts above have been exhausted, the coach will address the situation with the district athletic director.
IT IS NEVER OKAY TO APPROACH A COACH DURING A COMPETITION, FOR ANY REASON, AT ANY TIME!!
Behavior Consequences-Athletes will be well disciplined in all aspects. Failing to follow these expectations in school or at school-related functions will result in discipline by physical activity at the coaches’ discretion. More serious violations will result in a meeting with the athlete, parent and athletic coordinator.
**All doctor’s notes must have a release date in order for the athlete to return to physical activity.
**Please see the athletic trainer(s) at AHS before going to the doctor.
