PART II PRODUCTS
2.01MANUFACTURER
Provide Swingmaster Heavy Duty Series 850 surface mounted operator as manufactured by Besam, Inc. Monroe, NC 28110. Perform installation by the local certified Besam Distributor.
2.02EQUIPMENT
Swingmaster automatic swing door operator consisting of operator housing, swing power operator, electronic control, wire harnesses and connecting hardware including heavy duty arm.
2.03AUTOMATIC SWING DOOR OPERATOR
OPERATOR: Electro-mechanical operator, powered by 1/4 hp motor. Completely assembled and sealed unit includes helical gear drive transmission with clutch (to provide ease of manual operation and reduce possible shock loads when changing speeds), replaceable heavy duty spiral compression spring, all contained within a die cast aluminum housing and filled with special lubricant for extreme temperature conditions. Drive shaft is minimum 15/16" (24mm) thick containing 14 tooth splines to maximize bearing surface contact with drive arm assembly and eliminate slippage and door latch drifting. Internal stops in operator shall not be used. External stops to be provided by others and installed on door frame and at door's full open position. This is required on all doors of 250 pound (114 kg) or heavier.
A DC shunt-wound permanent magnet motor with sealed ball bearings is interfaced with the transmission system. Motor operates from 115 VAC-60 cycle-1 phase power supply. Motor requires less than 4 amps at surge and full power stall. The operator is mounted in a header case housing using vibration isolators to maintain quiet operation.
OPERATOR HOUSING: Operator is completely contained in a 6" (152mm) wide x 6" (152mm) high side load extruded aluminum housing. Swingmaster 850 is available in right or left hand configurations. All aluminum sections are 6063-T5 alloy and a minimum thickness of .156" (4mm). All exposed surfaces are dark bronze duranodic (AAC23A44). (Or clear anodized AAC23A31). The operator housing provides a seal against dust, dirt and moisture.
ELECTRONIC CONTROLS: A self-contained, solid state integrated circuit controls the operations and switching of the swing power operator. The electronic control provides low voltage power supply for all means of actuation. No external or auxiliary low voltage power source shall be allowed. The control shall include adjustable time delay (1 to 30 seconds) for normal cycle, as well as, the following built in features:
1.Torque limiting for controlled forces on opening.
2.Acceleration control for smooth starts.
3.Special circuitry for reducing power to the motor when door is in HOLD-OPEN mode, extending longevity and assuring reliability.
4.Adjustable speed controls to allow for longer opening time (not less than 6 seconds to open 90 degrees.)
5.Closing resistors to increase closing time up to 12-14 seconds (1,500 pound (682 kg) door.
6.Increased acceleration time circuit (to control increased door weight).
7.10 to 12 second hold circuit timing.
8.Back check to be not less than 20 to 25 degrees and latch to be not less than 15 degrees of door travel.
CONNECTING HARDWARE: Surface mounted operator connected to the door by means of a steel casted arm. The drive arm positively engages to the splined drive shaft and incorporates mechanical fastening to prevent arm to shaft disengagement.
Standard OUTswing arm: OUTswing doors are connected to the operator by a two piece drive arm with self-aligning rod ends and connecting door shoe and includes special arms (length) for doors that are greater than 2 inches (51 mm) thick. Doors are mounted on anti-friction bearing type hinges or pivots (by others) and movement of door requires not more than 20 pounds (9 kg) at 36 inches (914 mm) from hinge point (without operator or closer attached). The door arm is secured to the top rail of the swing door using one piece threaded tubular inserts for aluminum doors, 1/4-20 binding head and post screws (sex bolts) for wood and hollow metal doors. The knurled door arm adaptor is broached for positive engagement with the shaft and requires no additional linkage, slide blocks or tracks. The appearance of the top rail of the swing door shall be modified in order to attach the door arm. Provide external door stops at desired door open position and at door close position (on frame). Stops include a cushion as part of the stop to soften contact between door and stop.
Optional INswing arm: INswing doors are connected to the operator by a handed double journaled roller arm and track.
POWER OPEN: The automatic door operator powers the door open by forces transmitted mechanically to the drive shaft and maintains a constant engagement throughout the opening cycle. Operator is designed to counteract light exterior wind conditions and/or light interior stack pressures without the need of additional power assist mechanisms. The automatic door system functions as a manual door closer in the event of a power failure and is electro-mechanical in design requiring no remote pumps or compressors.
SPRING CLOSE: The automatic door operator is spring closed. The spring is designed to counteract light wind conditions and return the door to full close. Closing forces are regulated by utilizing the motor and gear assembly as a dynamic brake. The spring is compression type to ensure longevity. Clock type torsion springs shall not be allowed.
EMERGENCY BREAKAWAY: The breakaway feature allows doors to swing in the direction of egress with forces that comply with current ANSI Standard 156.10. Following emergency breakaway the doors return to the full closed position and electrically reset automatically.
2.04MOTION SENSOR CONTROL DEVICE -- select one of the following:
Actuation and safety devices are as indicated on door schedule and specified herein. Controls cause door to open instantly when device(s) located on approach side of door is actuated; hold door in open position, and cause door to close - unless safety device or re-actuation of opening impulse overrides such operation.
·Besam SentryScan directional motion detector (approach side. (See expanded specification under Section I -- Actuators and Controls)
·Floor control mats -- size in accordance with current ANSI/BHMA 156.10 American National Standard for Power Operated Pedestrian Doors.
·Press wall switches.
2.05PRESENCE SENSOR CONTROL DEVICE – select one of the following:
Besam SentryScan directional motion detector (approach side. (See expanded specification under Section I -- Actuators and Controls)
·Besam PassPort -- matless presence sensor. (See expanded specification under Section I -- Actuators and Controls)
·Besam PassPort Plus – matless presence sensor. (See expanded specification under Section I -- Actuators and Controls)
·Floor control mats -- size in accordance with current ANSI/BHMA 156.10 American National Standard for Power Operated Pedestrian Doors.
2.06ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND COMPONENTS
Electrical Characteristics: 115V D.C. motor shall not exceed 4 amps current draw. Electrical is 115V, 60 Hz, 10 amp electrical power supply to the operator. ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR NOTE: provide two low voltage 18 gauge stranded wires from automatic operator to remote (50 feet max.) activation devices (if required).
2.07 GUIDE RAILS
To be provided and installed by local certified Besam distributor per ANSI 156.10-1991.
