Curriculum Director, Los Angeles New Administrators Leadership Program (LANALP)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Center for Collaborative Education is seeking a qualified candidate to join the Los Angeles New Administrator Leadership Program (LANALP) as a Curriculum Director. This is a full-time position in CCE’s Los Angeles office that reports directly to the LANALP director and works collaboratively with LAUSD’s Professional Learning and Leadership Development Unit.

LANALP at CCE

The LANALP is a two-year, competency-based leadership development program that will lead to a Professional Clear Administrative Services Credential for administrators who have a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential in LAUSD’s autonomous schools (Pilot, School-Based Management, Local Initiative). The program’s goal is to train and support new administrators of autonomous schools to think systemically and act strategically so that they can empower a leadership team that will significantly impact instructional quality and student achievement. This leadership development program will build the capacity of bold, visionary leaders who are prepared to lead high-need and persistently low-achieving schools in upward trajectories of accelerated student achievement.

During the two-year cycle, LANALP participants will engage in a competency-based program that embodies the tenets of effective school leadership, with a focus on integrating research-based theory with practical application. The vision and mission of the program will be tied to ensuring equity for all students through systemic school transformation.

Responsibilities of the LANALP Curriculum Director

The LANALP Curriculum Director will be responsible for overall curriculum development, design and delivery as part of a team to successfully launch and refine the Los Angeles New Administrator Leadership Program. The specific tasks for which the LANALP Curriculum Director will be responsible include the following:

·  Collaborate and facilitate with partner organizations to plan and support the Los Angeles New Administrator Leadership Program

·  Collaborate with partner organization to develop the LANALP standards-based competencies, curriculum, projects and coaching/mentoring model

·  Work with the LANALP director to establish and state-certify the Los Angeles New Administrator Leadership Program as an LAUSD Alternative Professional Clear Administrative Services Credential Program

·  Assist with the recruitment and selection of coaches and candidates for cohorts 3-5.

·  Work with the LANALP Director to develop a curriculum and learning experiences to support the development of program participants who use the conditions and accountability of autonomy to create schools with high academic achievement

·  Regularly report on LANALP progress to the Advisory Committee

·  Collaborate with the LANALP Director to build an LANALP plan for roll-out of thethird cohort in June 2016 and all other cohorts that follow

·  Collaborate with LANALP director to develop a coach training model for cohorts 3-5 that meet all CTC requirements

·  Develop and coordinate the Units of Study, which includes monthly 3-hour professional development sessions

·  Provide feedback to Candidates to assure alignment of California Professional Standards for Education Leaders (CPSEL), LAUSD SLF, LANALP Habits of Mind and the vision and mission of the program with their IIP and research-based Field Project

·  Provide support to the Coach-Candidate pair as needed

·  Performs other LANALP duties as assigned

Qualifications

The Curriculum Director must demonstrate a passion for leading social change and must demonstrate a commitment to equity. CCE is looking for a team member who seeks and identifies challenges, and works to address/resolves challenges by continuously reviewing and refining their work. In addition, the selected candidate must have:

·  Bachelors and advanced degrees in education or a related field

·  Minimum five years of experience as a teacher leader and/or administrator in an urban public school

·  Experience leading a school reform effort is a preference

·  Knowledge and understanding of theory and practice of leadership development and school reform

·  Knowledge, understanding, and evidence of practice of curriculum design and blended learning

·  Knowledge, understanding, and evidence of practice of the California Professional Standards for Educational Leaders

·  Knowledge and understanding of the LAUSD School Leadership Framework

·  Knowledge and understanding of a research-based coaching program

·  Strong facilitation and collaboration skills

·  Good writing skills

·  Fluency in Spanish is a plus
