Chair Lightfoot called the Public Hearing to order at 5:00 p.m.

The Deputy Clerk read the call to Public Hearing:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Chair of the St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators that the Chair and the members of the Board of Legislators of the County of St. Lawrence will meet at the Board of Legislators’ Chambers, Court House, located at 48 Court Street, Canton, New York, at 5 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015, for the purpose of conducting a public hearing regarding the Adoption of the 2016 Budget.

FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that copies of said Tentative Budget are available at the Office of the Clerk of Board of Legislators at Canton, New York, where they may be inspected or procured by any interested person during business hours.

Pursuant to Section 359 of the County Law, the maximum salaries that may be fixed and payable during said fiscal year to members of said Board of Legislators and to the Chair thereof, respectively, are hereby specified as follows:

Members of the Board of Legislators $ 9,000

Vice-Chair of the Board of Legislators 11,000

Chair of the Board of Legislators 14,000

BY ORDER OF THE BOARD OF LEGISLATORS

COMMENTS: Dan Manor, Investigator for the District Attorney’s Office asked the Legislators to reconsider cutting the Social Welfare Investigator’s position from the Budget.

Brooke Rouse, St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, requested the Legislators restore $30,000 to the Chamber of Commerce’s Budget.

Tracy Charleston, owner of Commercial Press, requested the Legislators restore funding to the Recreational Trails System and the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.

Adam Paul said the International Film Festival was a success, and that they could not have done it without the help of the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.

Ron Roberts, Councilman, Town of Colton, said he belongs to the Recreational Trails Advisory Board. He spoke in support of continuing with the trails system.

Deb Christy, St. Lawrence County Trails Coordinator, spoke in regards to the St. Lawrence County Trails, and encouraged the Legislators to keep moving forward with progress on the trails. Ada Cole also spoke in regards to the funding of the St. Lawrence County Trails System.

Alex MacKinnon, former St. Lawrence County Legislator, said he understands the Budget process and hopes that the Board will consider putting funds back to the Trails System when and if money becomes available.

ADJOURNMENT: Chair Lightfoot adjourned the Public Hearing at 5:47 p.m. as no there was

no further business.
