OMAHA DISTRICT RECREATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - PLAYING RULES
FORMAT: 5 Team Format for Atom and PeeWee and 6 Team format for Bantam and Midget per Division and Championship Final on Monday.
RULES :All games played under these rules in addition to Hockey Canada, BC Hockey and OMAHA.
HOME TEAM: The Home Team will be the first team listed on the schedule. The Home Team will be responsible to change sweaters if there is a color conflict. The Home Team will remain on the ice until the visiting team has left.
PRE GAME WARM UP:5 minutes in length. Please be on time.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM LENGTH OF GAMES:
MIDGET, BANTAM - 1 Hour, 45 minute games (first 30 minutes RUN time and the last 30 minutes is stop time). There will be an ice clean at the 10 minute mark of the 2nd period. Delays in any game totaling more than 5 minutes will result in the adjustment of the 3rd period at the discretion of the Head Referee. This will ensure that the schedule runs accordingly.
ATOM, PEE WEE- 1 Hour, 30 minute game (first 30 minutes RUN time and last 30 minutes is stop time). There will be no ice clean. Delays in the game totaling more than 5 minutes will result in the adjustment of the 3rd period at the discretion of the Head Referee. This will ensure that the schedule runs accordingly.
There are no time outs allowed during running time games. Violation of this rule will result in a delay of game penalty.
PENALTIES
Running time -minor penalties = 3 minutes/double minor penalties = 6 minutes/5 minute major penalties = 7 minutes 30 seconds
Stop time minor penalties = 2 minutes.
ROUND ROBIN SCORING:
2 points for a win
1 point for a tie
0 points for a loss
No overtime in Round Robin Series. Overtime will be in effect for the final game only. First 3 games will determine playoff rounds.
TIES: In the event that teams are tied at the end of the round robin, the tie breaking formula will be as per BC Hockey Policy.
OVERTIME: See attached.
PENALTIES
Running time - minor penalties = 3 minutes/double minor penalties = 6 minutes/5 minute major penalties = 7 minutes, 30 seconds.
Stop time minor penalties = 2 minutes
MATCH PENALTY OR GROSS MISCONDUCT: Any player receiving a Gross Misconduct or Match Penalty will be suspended as per BC Hockey Suspension Guidelines.
Team Officials: Team Officials are subject to the same Match Penalty/Gross Misconduct rules as above.
