a. Explain the scientific contributions of Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, and Newton and how these ideas changed the European world view. / SSWH10 The student will analyze the impact of the age of discovery and expansion into the Americas, Africa, and Asia.
a. Explain the roles of explorers and conquistadors; include Zheng He, Vasco da Gama,Christopher Columbus, Ferdinand Magellan, James Cook, and Samuel de Champlain.
b. Define the Columbian Exchange and its global economic and cultural impact.
c. Explain the role of improved technology in European exploration; include the astrolabe.

Warm up:Todaysmeet/ Student will define one of the important figures from the Age of Exploration
Work-Time Activities / Students will spend about 25 minutes working on their graphic organizer using the nearpod as a webquest.
They will then share their information to help complete the graphic organizer. / Scientific Revolution Notes
Students will create a campaign poster for one of the figures in the Scientific Revolution that includes one of the figures accomplishments. / Age of Exploration Notes
Summative Assessment will utilize much of this material so students will choose one of these individuals to study in detail.
Closure Activity / Socrative post assessment based on Mesoamerican lesson / Students will share work with teacher and class. / Compose a log for one of the important individuals from the Age of Exploration

Students will fill out a map with products that were traded through the Columbian Exchange.
This map will be used for Summative Assessment / Students will complete an exploration narrative today, and will also complete a Multiple Choice Assessment.
This Summative Assessment will serve as a project grade
