INSTRUCTIONS:
- Sit down at the table or floor.
- Match the lower case letters with the upper case letter climbing up the coconut tree.

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Take apart the puzzle and put it back together.

ACTIVITY #3: Reading books, listen to book on a tape
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Pick a book and draw what you think the book is about. Share your story at large group time.

OPENING:
Pledge of Allegiance: pick a child sitting correctly (arms folded, sitting criss cross apple sauce, and quiet)

THEME CONCEPTS:
The children will:
A. understand that letters make sounds (like animals) and be able to identify each letter
B. be able to retell the story Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by, Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault.
C. be able to recite the alphabet with song, plays, puppets, and concept boards.
D. taste and feel a real coconut as part of the science activity that goes along with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by, Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault.
NEW TERMS OR WORDS:
- Review all letters and sounds of the alphabet.
- Coconut.
- Show the children what the centers are show them examples of what we do and the centers.
TRANSITION: I would choose the quite child first have them come up and pick a center out of the hat, there would be a picture of the activity on a piece of paper.
ACTIVITY #1- Story Stretcher- “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”- Create your own coconut tree.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Make a tree stump with the brown paint, stick your hands in the green paint and make the leaves that are on the coconut tree.
- Get the teacher to help you get alphabet stickers.
- Blue construction paper
- Brown and green paint

TRANSITION:Children would hear a drum beat have them move to the next center.
ACTIVITY #2-Make Shakers for the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom song.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Sit at the table get a toilet paper roll.
- Color the toilet paper roll.
- Cover one end with paper, fill with rice.
- Cover the other end with paper.
- Shake and make noise.

ACTIVITY #3- Matching Animals with letters/memory game
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Each animal letter begins with each letter of the alphabet. Match each animal with a letter on the index cards.
- Flip over my index cards have them match the letter and animal with the same first sound.
- Animals A-Z
- Index cards with letters A-Z (laminated)

ACTIVITY #4- Science – Feeling the Texture of a Coconut
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Pass the coconut around the table; get a feel of the weight and texture of the coconut.
- Coconut
- Children’s hands

TRANSITION:Children would hear a drum beat have them move to the next center.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY/RECESS- letter hop scotch/free play
TRANSITION:Beat a drum, line up, hang up coat, wash your hands, sit at snack table.
HEALTHY SNACK – Eat the coconut trail mix
INSTURCTIONS:
- Sit down quietly until everybody get their snack
- When everybody has their snack then you can start eating
- M&M’s
- Stick Pretzels
- Raisins
- Shredded coconut

TRANSITION:Act like you are rolling a coconut to the big rug.
REVIEW & EVALUATE: half a piece of paper with and alphabet border/review alphabet on a white board.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- I would put the review and evaluate papers in the child’s file with the sign in and sign out sheets.
- I would have the child sit with me and review the letters of the alphabet on a white board
