Requirements for all Mechanical Engineering S-STEM Scholars:

  • Must complete the application form.
  • Must write a letter of interest (250 words maximum, typed).
  • Must attach a copy of SAT or ACT and a letter of recommendation from a teacher if you’re a high school senior.
  • Must attach a copy of current Student Aid Report generated from FAFSA and include UMBC on the form (UMBC ID # is 002105,
  • Must have the intention to enroll in UMBC Mechanical Engineering program or have been admitted to the program*.
  • Must attach a copy of a high school or college transcript.

* For students who have not been formally admitted to Mechanical Engineering program at UMBC, the students are required to take the suggested Mechanical Engineering courses for freshmen and sophomores, and have the intention to enroll in the Mechanical Engineering program after reaching eligibility.
