PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE:

Goals/P-T conferences.

I

t has been a busy month at our Elementary School. One of the major things going on was the chance for our teachers and parents to come together during parent/teacher conferences. During this time, our teachers showed you your child’s test scores and goals for the upcoming testing period in January. Younger students are learning what goals are, while we are encouraging older students to take more ownership in their learning by setting these goals. One thing we want to see as a school is how far we can move each student’s scores, between the different test periods. As parents, you can help your children with the given suggestions from your teacher. Together we can see great strides in your student’s education.

We thank you for entrusting our school with your children.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TRACY HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR MAKING IT TO STATE. GOOD LUCK!!!

What’s Happening?

Kindergarteners are off to a super start! We have been busy getting to know one another and becoming a "kindergarten family" at school. All three classes have been learning about shapes, colors, patterns, alphabet letters and sounds, numbers, apples, fall, school bus safety, fire safety, and much much more! Our classes would like to say a special THANK YOU to the Tracy Elementary PTC for making our trip to Holmberg Apple Orchard possible and to the Tracy Fire Department for inviting our kindergarten classes to the Fire Station fora tour. The kindergarten children were proud to perform nursery rhymes and songs for their families and friends. We are all a little more familiar with the classic nursery rhymes after much practice and hard work! We are looking forward to continuing to meet with our 4th grade buddies this year. Our next meeting will include some pumpkin fun! As always, thank you to parents and families for helping to make your child's kindergarten experience successful!

CHIP SHOPPE

I would like to thank all of the families that sold and bought items during our Chip Shoppe fundraiser. We raised 11,000 dollars.

Book Fair

This month, the Book Fair raised 2500 dollars for our school library. Thank you to all parents for buying books for teacher’s classrooms and purchasing from the book fair. Thank you to the PTC for organizing and working the Book Fair.

TAKE CHARGE OF EDUCATION AT TARGET! If you shop at Target and use your Target Charge Card, please remember to list Tracy Elementary School as the school you would like to support.

Policy Review

Medications at school

Most medications can be given at home, outside of school hours. However, if medication is needed during the school day, your help is needed to make this safe and effective for your child. This includes providing written permission from the prescriber, sending the medication in proper containers, and including information about the reason the medication is needed.

Prescription medication, as well as over the counter medication which is used on a regular basis (more than twice a week) cannot be given without

  1. written request from parent or guardian and
  2. written prescription from the child’s medical provider.

NOTE: When there is achange in medication, (type, dosage, time of day) a new written request from both parent/guardian and medical provider is necessary.

Over the counter medications used on an occasional basis (less than twice a week) for things such as discomfort from toothaches, ear aches, mild headaches, or upset stomach can be given in school if the parent /guardian has given written permission.

* Medications sent to school must be in the original container from the drugstore, labeled with child’s name and the original pharmacy/drugstore label. For your child’s safety, we cannot give unlabeled medication.

*Please send only the amount to be given at school. You can ask the pharmacist for a duplicate bottle to use at school.

* Families are strongly urged to bring the medicine to school instead of sending it with the child on the bus. In the event that parents cannot bring the medicine to school, please call the school to alert staff that medication has been sent.

BUS LANE GUIDELINES

Parents, please help us out by leaving the bus lane open before and after school! We are having a number of people dropping their students off in the bus lane before school. Buses arrive starting at 7:40 up until 8:00.

  • ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING in the Bus Lane! (We have buses that drop off and pick up all day long.)
  • If you are driving your student to school, please drop them off in the back parking lot, before school.
  • Thank you for your cooperation!
