Meeting Called to Order: The West Citrus Democratic club met on Saturday, July 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the Riviera restaurant in Crystal River. Roger Cullen, President, convened the meeting.

Guest Speaker: There was no guest speaker for this meeting.

Business Meeting:

Mission Statement: Lew Chandler read the short version of the proposed West Citrus Democratic Club Mission Statement

  • To fight ignorance, poverty, racism, and environmental degradation. The long version, as inspired by FDR & LBJ, was distributed and will be published to the website upon approval of the July 8 meeting minutes.

Treasury Report: Jack Mulder reported on the club’s finances.

June Minutes: The minutes from the June meeting were approved.

DEC News: Joe Adams: Joe and Susan Reeder attended Leadership Blue.

  • Joe Biden spoke.
  • 1400 people attended
  • Sally Boynton Brown has posted a document about the election plan on her website
  • John Morgan has not announced he is running for Governor
  • Someone in Sumpter County will run
  • The DEC is looking for people to run against Webster
  • The DEC office needs financial help for rent, expenses, and supplies

League of Women Voters: Linda Myers:

  • Announced The League of Women Voters are showing the film I Voted, produced by Katie Couric
  • Subject: Voter insecurity regarding electronic voting systems.

Old Business

The FDR/LBJ Dinner/Dance: Pat Hanley

  • Sept 30 at the Elks’ Club, 7890 W. Grover Cleveland Boulevard Homosassa, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Steve Robinson entertaining.
  • Dinner choices:Chicken cordon bleu, Roast beef, Fillet of sole, Eggplant Parmesan

  • Tickets are $50
  • Ticket price had erroneously been emailed as $45.00. Lew Chandler made a motion to changeto $50.00; Ted van Voorthuijsenseconded; the motion passed.

Voter Integrity

  • Governor Scott and FL Secretary of State, Ken Detzner[1] are not going to give our private information (driver’s license and Social Security numbers) to Trump's Voter Commission.

Democratic Black Caucus of Citrus County: Otis Brown

  • The Second Annual Citrus County Democratic Black Caucus Gospel Fest will be held Saturday, September 9, at 6:00 p.m., at Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Crystal River.
  • Tickets are $10 and will be ready in about a week

  • Members can send him a letter and he will edit
  • He urged everyone to email people in the party who write the rules.

Democratic Veterans’ Caucus Meeting

  • July 22

  • Must have 10 members to formalize the caucus
