Job Title / Maintenance Worker
Job Description / Duties / The individuals chosen for this position will:
- Assist in repairing, maintaining, and otherwise caring for buildings, fixtures, equipment, and grounds by performing one or more of the following duties:
(a) Making minor repairs and installing equipment or appliances in
buildings.
(b) Using common hand tools and operating simple power tools in
installation, maintenance, repair, and refinishing work.
(c) Disassembling and assembling, cleaning and sanding, and otherwise
preparing equipment, fixtures, or appliances for refinishing.
(d) Installing and securing office machines and electronic equipment.
In addition, some of the core duties will involve the following:
- Maintaining, repairing, assembling, installing, and moving auditorium seats and movable school equipment and furniture.
- Performing heavy labor and semi-skilled manual tasks related to maintenance and/or repair projects in a variety of crafts.
- Performing routine tasks such as carrying, moving, and delivering equipment and supplies.
- Repairing, assembling, dismantling, and moving portable bleachers, lunch tables, and stage risers.
- Loading and unloading furniture and equipment on trucks.
- Moving heavy machinery
Job Incumbents may also operate power equipment such as trucks, lifts, skip loaders, forklifts, electric carts, pallet jacks, pneumatic tools, saws, drills, sanders, and other items.
Work Schedule / Positions in this job classification may be offered on a 10 or 11
month basis - salary and paid time off for 10 or 11 month positions will be adjusted accordingly. Positions in this job classification may be subject to additional furlough days.
Compensation / $15.55- $19.35 Hourly
Minimum Qualifications / EDUCATION: Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent
educational proficiency.
EXPERIENCE: Six months of experience involving (1) maintenance
and/or repair of buildings, equipment, appliances, or grounds, using hand
and small power tools, or (2) moving and installing of equipment or
furniture.
SPECIAL: (1) A valid California Driver License, and (2) use of an automobile.
SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Abilities to (1) stand, walk, bend, crawl, climb, reach overhead, crouch, kneel, balance, push, and pull, (2) safely lift and carry tools and materials weighing up to 100 pounds, (3) work safely at heights including the use of ladders, scaffolds, and other related equipment, and (4) safely work in confined spaces.
Desired Qualifications / We are seeking candidates with working knowledge of:
- The use and operation of common hand and small power tools
- Proper methods for lifting and moving heavy objects
- Safety practices in equipment handling and the use of manual and power tools
Further, we are seeking candidates with a demonstrated ability to:
- Safely and effectively use small power and common hand tools
- Recognize conditions that are safety hazards or require the attention of skilled craft personnel
- Follow oral and written instructions
- Work effectively with others
