Deputy Principal
Expressions of interest are invited for the position of Deputy Principal at Walgett Community College, beginning Term 3, 2017, (earlier by negotiation) for the remainder of the school year, with the possibility of extension to the end of 2018.
Walgett Community College is a split campus with a separate primary and secondary campus, the deputy principal works across both campuses.
The college has approximately 270 students, including 97% Aboriginal students. Walgett has a population of approximately 2300 and is situated in a rural context approximately 280 north of Dubbo. The school is part of the Connected Communities Strategy and is committed to providing a broad, high quality education for all students through a diverse, relevant curriculum with a focus on student and community engagement. The school is well resourced. The college supports PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) taking a pro-active approach to behaviour by explicitly teaching behavioural expectations in all school settings and there is a strong focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes. Active partnerships are established between the school and the community.
Criteria
§ Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
§ Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
§ Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
§ Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
§ Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies

One of the referees listed must be your current principal and require the signature of the applicant’s current principal or supervisor.
