PURSE EARNINGS

RELEASES AND CLAIM CHECKS RELEASES

Purse checks for overnight races are released twice a week –

•For races on Friday & Saturday – checks are released by the

next Friday

•For races on Wednesday & Tuesday – checks are released by

the following Monday .

•Stake races are released only after lab testing is completed &

PA Commission receives official release .

Driver and Trainer checks –

•Released twice a month – as close to the 1st & 15th of each

month as possible .

•Earnings for stake races must first be released by the

Commission . Any disqualifications will require repayment of earnings .

CLAIM CHECKS

•Money will be released only after completed lab testing is completed and the Race Office has received the horse’s registration papers .

•However, claim money can be used toward another claim before Commission release – if the Race Office has the papers - by signing a Release of Proceeds available at the Horseman’s Bookkeeper’s Office .

NOTE: Please verify that all of your information is correct to ensure prompt distribution of earnings . You must have the following on file with the bookkeeper:

•Purse Authorization form

• W-9

Any checks mailed to an obsolete address will not be reissued for one month after originally mailed . Checks should be cashed promptly . Any check presumed missing must have been mailed out 15 days prior before stop payment can be issued and a new check mailed .

DISTRIBUTION OF CHECKS

Purse checks for overnight races are cut twice per week, at least five days after the race day . Purse checks for stake races are released only after lab testing is completed and the state racing commission provides an official release .

Driver and trainer checks are produced twice a month, on or about the 1st and 15th of each month . Stake race earnings are released only after lab testing and state racing commission official release .

ANY DISQUALIFICATIONS WILL REQUIRE REPAYMENT OF EARNINGS

Claim money is available after completion of lab testing and the race official has received the horse’s registration papers or the papers are filed electronically with the USTA . Claim money remains on account until requested .

Claim money not released by the state racing commission may be used toward another claim up to two days after the horse was claimed . The race office must first have the registration papers or they must be filed electronically with the USTA . The claimer must also sign a Release of Proceeds form available from the horsemen’s bookkeeper .
