The Physical Environment and Human Activities

In this activity you will investigateinteractions between global physical processes and human activities in Canada.

Investigating the Big Questions:

  • Investigate consequences for Canada of the changes human activities have made to the physical environment

Resources:

  • Course text: Making Connections
  • Internet sites
  • Google Images
  • YouTube Videos
  • Facts on file videos: to access the facts on file videos go to Moodle, and then click on the Facts on File Videos link located at the top of your class’ page. (The username for this site is foresthill and the password is trillium)

You will notice that some words in the big question are in bold font. You should be creating a “what” question which includes this word (or words).

When answering “where” questions, maps should always be included as part of the investigation.

  1. Check your questions with the teacher and edit the questions if required.
  1. Write downa plan as to how you will answer your questions. Don’t write down the answers to these questions, but rather, what will you be looking for.

Write down key research terms you will you type in a search engine

Write down how you will use the course textbook.

Write down what you want the images to show?

  1. Check your plan with the teacher and edit the plan if required.
  1. Open Knight Cite ( and create an account if you have not already created an account.

As you collect each piece of information, you must create the citation immediately using Knight Cite using the steps given to you previously by your teacher.
