April 4, 2017

  • A motion was made by Stephanie Northcutt to pay an amount not to exceed $17,500 for laptops. Motion was seconded by Kim Lee and approved.
  • A motion was made by Kim Lee to approve the March 2017 board meeting minutes. Motion was seconded by Misty Choice and approved.
  • A motion was made by Lauren Weller to approve the current budget (balance $78, 981.43). Motion was seconded by Misty Choice and approved.
  • A motion was made by Lauren Weller to pay Texas Jump and Splash $6,681.00 (carnival). Motion was seconded by Danielle Hooks and approved.

Principal’s Update: Mrs. Geis

  • We will be gaining about 10 new positions next year.
  • There will be 5 new teachers, an additional counselor and an additional outclass.
  • Scanlan will be losing about 199 students and gaining 250 in the rezoning.

President’s Update: Stephanie Northcutt

  • VIPS of the month are Jeanneca Manuel and Jill Howell.
  • JA in a day was a success!
  • The carnival is April 21 from 5-8.
  • April 27 is the Welcome Party from 6-7:30. Please arrive by 5:40 in PTO shirts. Check in table: Stephanie Northcutt, 2nd VPs; Cafeteria: Lauren, Nicole, Danielle, Lis, Kim and SA; Backdoor greeters: EE; Front door: VIPS; pictures: publicity
  • Please watch your budgets.
  • We will be purchasing laptops for the school (will wait til 5/1 to order).
  • Stephanie Northcutt made a motion to pay an amount not to exceed $17,500 for the laptops. Motion was seconded by Kim Lee and approved.
  • Budget reimbursements must be submitted by May 15.

** an email was received after the meeting that Pam Bund will not be returning for the 2017-2018 board. The nominating committee met again and approved Crystal O’Brien to take the EE position.

  • JA will be moved to VIPS.
  • VIPS duties defined: room moms/shared dreams, hours, JA/VIPS room & coordinator
  • Slated board bios and pics will be posted.

  • A motion was made by Kim Lee to approve the PTO board meeting minutes from April 2017. It was seconded by Misty Choice and approved.

Treasurer: Lauren Weller

  • A motion was made by Lauren Weller to approve the current budget (balance $78,981.43). Motion was seconded by Misty Choice and approved.
  • A motion was made by Lauren Weller to pay Texas Jump and Splash $6,681.00 (carnival). Motion was seconded by Danielle Hooks and approved.

1st Vice President: Nicole Waters

  • Budget meetings will be April 25 at the Sienna Grill. The meetings will start at 9:30 and should last about an hour each.

2nd VP: 9:30-10:30

SA: 10:30-11:30

VIPS: 11:30-12:30

EE: 12:30-1:30

2nd Vice President: Robin Strickland, Stephanie Reilly, Tracie Bates

  • Boxtops are still going. The last contest will go until the end of the year.
  • Calendar has been approved. Boosterthon pep rally will be 2/6/18 and the Fun Run will be 2/15/18.
  • The Boosterthon winning classes will have a snow day on 4/13.
  • There are 2 school stores left.
  • Pepperonis spirit night is this week and another on the 1st Thursday of May.
  • Spring Creek spirit night had poor attendance.
  • School supplies will be delivered the week of August 14.

Educational Enrichment: Misty Choice, Shanda Guillory-McClure, Pam Bund

  • K-2 Field Day will be May 5, 3-5 Field Day will be May 12.

VIPS: Meredith Canny, Cynthia Guerra, Jaime Stratton

  • VIPS luncheon will be 4/19 from 11-2. Please RSVP. It will be a picnic theme and the gift will be SOE visors.
  • May 17 is the luncheon for VIPS of the year (Kelly Wilmot).
  • GLCs for 2017-2018 were discussed.
  • 5th grade party is being planned.
  • At the district VIPS meeting STAAR testing was discussed. If student is “approaching grade level”, he/she passed.
  • Also at meeting it was mentioned that food provided should be store bought.

Staff Appreciation: Mary Margaret Purdy, Sarah Reckers, Chanda Schneider

  • Lunch Bunch will be April 11. Items are still needed, please sign up.
  • SA week is the first week of May.
  • There was discussion about lunch for Heritage Rose.
