Stockdale High School Medical Academy Summer School Physical Education
MASH Physical Education will put a little more importance on the health of the student. Pedometers, body fat testing, cardio & physical fitness testing scores will be kept and analyzed. Lessons on the muscular and skeletal system will also be given during this six week course.
ATTENDANCE: Summer school attendance is drastically different than regular school attendance.
· Students are given only 3 school days of absences or 12 hours and 45 minutes missing. (765 total minutes). Once a student reaches 766 minutes, they are dropped from summer school. This policy is final
· Students enrolled in only one semester (3 weeks) get two days of absences (510 minutes)
· There are no excused absences. Any absence, regardless of the reason counts towards missing hours.
· Student’s found leaving the class or not with the main group during an activity (ditching) will be sent home with a non-participation and time taken from their attendance allotment from the beginning of the infraction. A second time will result in a drop from school.
· Tardies count towards the student’s time missing. Class begins at 7:30am with a warning bell at 7:25am
· There are no miscellaneous assignments (written reports, etc) given to make up any missed days for any reason.
DRESSING OUT:
· Students will come to school ready for P.E. ie; dressed in proper clothes (lockers will NOT be open for changing).
· Students will wear Stockdale approved P.E. apparel: A WHITE T-SHIRT and BLACK SHORTS
· NO see-thru clothing, halters, tank tops, “short-shorts”, offensive designs, or revealing clothing will be allowed
· Any student failing to dress appropriately, will be sent to the office to call home for proper clothing delivery or to go home.
· Time out of class to get properly clothed will count towards minutes off attendance
PARTICIPATION:
· Student will participate in all activities through the course of the day.
· Minus points will be given if your student is found sitting, or not being an active participant.
· Continued lack of participation can result in student being dropped from the course or sent home for the day.
· JOG/WALK: Must finish required number of laps (morning activity)
· MEDICAL (Injury): If a student is unable to participate due to health or medical issues, the student will have to be dropped from the summer school course. Minimum participation is being able to walk/light jog, do warm-ups, and light activity. Any medical note saying student is to stay off feet is a non-participant and should not to come to school. Normal attendance rules will apply.
· SICK: If your student is ill, please keep student home and use the three days allotted wisely to get better. Having a student participate while being sick, risks worsening the illness and/or passing the illness to others.
DISCIPLINE:
· If any of the above rules are abused once or on a continued basis, the student can and will be dropped from summer school without any opportunity to return for this summer’s courses.
· More serious discipline issues such as, but not limited too; fighting, bullying, obscene behavior, defiance, will result in the student being dropped from summer school immediately.
POINTS: grading system and scale are subject to change by each teacher. This is a “guide”
· 5 points each day for being present, on time, and dressed out.
· A student can lose points for being tardy, not participating, or being absent (full or part of day)
OTHER:
· Water, a healthy snack during break, and sunscreen (already applied upon arrival) are recommended.
· Bring little else. There are no lockers or places to store purses, backpacks, cell phones, etc. Stockdale High School and PE teachers will not be responsible for any missing, stolen, or broken items brought to school.
· Student can bring a Frisbee, tennis racquet, basketball, or football (please put name on item, student is responsible for it)
