Progress Reports:
Please note that a progress report for any student with an average of a 75 or lower will be sent home or e-mailed to you each six weeks at the beginning of the fourth week of the six weeks, informing you of your student’s average.
Late Work
Students are encouraged to turn work in on time. Having work finished when it is due has many benefits. You don't fall further behind, you are prepared for class discussions and activities and you are ready and prepared for tests and quizzes when your work is completed by the assigned due date.In the event that work is not turned in on time, there will be a penalty:
Work turned in late will receive 5 points off per school day with a maximum of 50 points off. Until it is turned in, theassignment will be listed as “MSG” in the grade book which is calculated as a zero.
Failures
Students will be given the opportunity to improve failing grades on tests by completing a test corrections page. The maximum score on this redone work is a 70. Students may be required to attend tutoring or complete additional review activities before being allowed to do test corrections.
Students who fail a six weeks will be assigned tutoring / intervention the following six weeks.
Cheating
Cheating can include copying answers, allowing someone to copy your answers, plagiarism, using unauthorized sources on a test/quiz, or having someone else complete an assignment for you.
1st offense: You will be given an alternate assignment, your parents will be notified and you will be assigned a detention. The alternate assignment will have a maximum value of a 70.
2nd offense: You will be given a zero on the assignment, your parents will be notified and you will receive an office referral.
Extra Credit:
Students will not be able to do extra credit to replace missing assignments or test grades. However, an extra credit problem-of-the-week can be found on my website. The extra credit will be due each Friday. Each correct problem is worth two points if correct with work shown or one point if incorrect with work shown. These points can be added onto any single assignment of the student’s choosing. Parents can help students with the extra credit. However, it is important that the student show all work that was necessary to arrive at their answer.
