Dear parents,

Welcome to the Dancin' & Praizin'-4-CHRIST Worship in Arts Ministry! Our ministry began in the Fall of 2012 with a group of 8 girls, and has blossomed into 30+ girls in recent years. We consist of three groups of girls, ranging from age 4-20 years of age. The Mini Company consists of 4-5 year olds, the Junior Company consists of 6-9 year olds, the Junior Company consists of 10-12 year olds, and the Teen/Senior Company consists of 13-18year olds. D&P4C performs at area churches and community events, with their main performances during the Easter and Christmas seasons. D&P4C meets at Oak Street Baptist Church in the original fellowship hall, entering through the back, floor level entrance.

Each of the girls selected have a desire to share the love of Christ through dance. The two main prerequisites for this team are the dancer has a heart for Christ (most important) and that she has some type of experience in the area of the Arts. Furthermore, each team member must exude a positive and encouraging attitude with other teammates, as well as on and off the dance floor. It is crucial and important that each dancer represent this ministry well, as others will be watching her actions. It is important that this ministry is so meaningful to each dancer, that their family and friends witness an attitude that is different than others. D&P4C is a ministry of dance, but not a dance class focusing only on technique. Your dancer will learn many routines including new and familiar dance technique. However, each class time will focus more on learning dances, and less on learning technique. As an instructor I continue to strive for excellence! Even a ministry has to include discipline and consistency, so the end product is the best it can be! Class time is to be used efficiently to prepare for seasonal performances. My goal is to see these girls succeed as they minister to their families, friends, and others in our community through dance.

WAIVER FORM

A parent/guardian MUST be present at the beginning of the initial class to complete and sign form beforeyour dancer can participate in the class.

FEES

This ministry does not entail a monthly fee. As mentioned above these are not dance technique classes. The only fees that are included will be the dancer's attire. There are two lists below detailing exactly what your dancer will need. The top list is what I will order, and the bottom list is what you will purchase either at the Dancer's Den in Alcoa, or online if you choose. The $60 will be due the first day of class to insure the order is placed in a timelymanner, and each dancer is properly prepared for any unexpected performances.

***Make note the second list is ONLY an approximation depending on place of purchase.***

-Church Fee $10

-Logo T-shirt $10

-Logo Hoodie $20

-Dance Jewelry $20

Total $60 (due first day of class)

-Black Dance Pants ~$20

-Black Capri Leggings (Teens & Seniors ONLY) ~$15

-Caramel Transitional Tights(or color that BEST blends dancer's skin tone) ~$15

-Black Spaghetti Strap Leotard ~$25

All of the listed items above will be used for all performances and/or events. Unlessyour dancer outgrows any part of her costume, becomes faded/ruined, or I find thereis a need for change in attire, there should not be any other future purchases.

ILLNESS/INJURY

If you dancer is ill, but has no fever (or not contagious), or has an injury, please make a point to still attend class.

The dancer will benefit from watching and taking notes so she will not get behind in the coming weeks.

REHEARSAL ATTIRE

Rehearsal attire should be dance clothes or some type of clothing that allows the dancer to properly move. Hair should be pulled away from face in a ponytail or bun. All attire must be modest and appropriate. Be sure to wear proper coverage to and from class, such as your D&P4C hoodie and dance pants. Do not wear your lyrical shoes and performance attire outside of the proper place and venue.

PERFORMANCE ATTIRE

Be sure to match the performance attire to the pictures that have been provided. The length and style of the dance pants are important, as well as the spaghetti strap leotard and convertible tights. It is imperative that each team and dancer look professional and unified in appearance. Each dancer will perform in their "Casual Attire" - logo tee, black dance pants or "Formal Attire" - tunic. Both sets of attire includes transitional tights, black leotard, lyrical shoes, Hair - Mini Team - Bun, Junior Team - Low Pony Tail, Teen Team - Hair pulled back on sides, Senior Team -

Low bun to the left side updo style, with ALL jewelry, & make-up. During the winter months the hoodie will be used as a team warmup over your performance attire so the teams are unified to and from the event. Again, please do not wear performance attire and shoes outside of the proper rehearsal/performance venue.

SCHEDULE & PERFORMANCES

Our groups meet at least 3-4 times per month depending on the time of year. If performances are frequent, we will meet about 4 times per month. There will always be a printed schedule issued to parents listing at least three months of rehearsals leading up to the performance. This schedule will also include any already scheduled performances or events. Some performances may be scheduled within a week or two of the date due to various valid reasons. It is important for the girls to be as much involved as possible sharing their ministry. If we are invited with little notice, I try to accommodate the situation effectively and efficiently. Extra rehearsals are scheduled at times as well, when preparing for major performances or events. Those will be scheduled in a timely manner for everyone's convenience. Listed below is the day and time for your dancer's regular rehearsal.
