3. Upon approval from the Regional Director or designee, submit the request package to your Servicing Human Resources Office (Classification & Staffing Specialist).
NOTE: All temporary promotion requests require an HR qualifications review. The respective HR Staffing Specialist will next determine if the employee is qualified and if eligible, a signed temporary promotion agreement may next be established by the immediate supervisor (see attached template).

Subject: Temporary Promotion Not-to-Exceed 120 Days
You are being temporarily promoted to the position of Position Title, Pay Plan, Series, Grade, Step, $Salary per year located at Region/Agency/Program Name or Office, City/State, effective Date Established by HR Staffing Specialist and not-to-exceed Date Established by HR Staffing Specialist.
Unless a temporary promotion is extended to meet additional temporary needs, a temporary promotion automatically ends on the specified date. At the discretion of the Agency, however, your temporary promotion may be terminated at any time and you will revert to your former grade and salary.
Upon return to your former grade, your pay will be established in accordance with 5 CFR §531.215(a)(c). Under no circumstances should you work beyond the not-to-exceed date. If you work beyond your not-to-exceed date, you will be required to reimburse the Government for any overpayment of salary for the temporary promotion.
Please sign the attached temporary promotion agreement. A copy of the position description will be provided to you along with the SF-50b, Notification of Personnel Action from the Human Resources Office to your electronic Official Personnel Folder (e-OPF).
