Transfer of Copyright Agreement

Completion of this form transfers to the International Society for the Learning Sciences, Inc. (“ISLS”), copyright holder for the ICLS 2002 Proceedings, all of your copyright in the Paper described below. Lawrence Erlbaum Associates will publish the proceedings, but will not hold the copyright. This form must be signed and returned before your paper can be published in the Proceedings.

The Paper entitled:

is herewith submitted for publication. You hereby transfer to ISLS the exclusive rights comprised in the copyright of your paper, and grant and assign to ISLS, during the full period of copyright and extensions thereof, all rights to publish and sell the Paper and the Proceedings in all media of expression now known or later developed, in its original edition and in all revisions thereafter; to have translated and published foreign editions of the Paper and the Proceedings throughout the World; to distribute derivative works based thereon, in English and in other languages; to license or permit others to do so; and to post in on the ICLS 2002 web site.
The copyright of the Paper and Proceedings will be taken out in the name of ISLS.

You warrant that your Paper is original except for such excerpts and illustrations from copyrighted works as may be included with permission of the copyright owners thereof, such permissions obtained by you at your expense and submitted here. You further guarantee to ISLS that your Paper contains nothing that is a violation of the copyrights of another person or entity and that you will hold ISLS harmless against any suits, claims, and proceedings which may be brought against you or ISLS with regard to copyright.

ISLS grants you the following rights to your Paper (but not the entire Proceedings) (1) The right to make copies of all or part of the published article for your use in teaching; (2) The right to re-use all or part of this material in a compilation of your works or in a textbook of which you are the author; (3) The right to make copies of the published work for internal distribution within the institution which employs you; (4) The right to make copies of published work available via the Web on your personal web site.

Any copies distributed by you must include an acknowledgement in the header of the paper as follows: “Copyright 2002, International Society for the Learning Sciences. Presented at the International Conference of the Learning Sciences 2002. Reproduced by permission.”

This agreement shall be governed by the laws and jurisdiction of Fulton County, Georgia, USA.
